November 27, 2007
  • East Tower: On L1, drywall work is progressing. On L2, mechanical rough-in is on going. On L5 through L7, the drywall work is continuing, painting will be starting this week.

  • Enclosure: On the east tower, the stair tower brick veneer is complete. The curtainwall window framing at the lobby locations are progressing. On the west elevation, the mechanical louvers are beginning to be installed. On the east elevation, window trim is ongoing.

  • RTX: Interior wall framing has started.

  • October 1, 2007
    • Center Tower: On L1, the elevated catwalk is starting to be installed. On L2, work continues on the steam line and HVAC installation.

    • East Tower: On L5 and L6, work continues on the interior walls, in-walls, and overhead MEP rough-ins. On L7, drywall work is starting.

    • Enclosure: On the east tower, at the west elevation on the south end, the brick veneer is being installed. On south elevation, the elevator exterior precast is being installed. On the north elevation, the curtain wall work is ongoing.

    September 24, 2007
    • Center Tower: On L1, the CMU (masonry) wall as well as in wall plumbing and electrical work is near completion. On L2, the steam piping and duct installation continues.

    • East Tower: On B1 through L2, drywall work is ready to start. On L5 through L7, the in-wall and overhead MEP rough-in continues to be installed. The interior stud wall is ongoing.

    • Enclosure: On the east tower, the west elevation precast is complete. Also on the east tower west elevation on the south half, the brick veneer is complete. On the east tower west elevation glass will be completed this week. On the east tower east elevation, the glass installation is near completion. Hand set stone will begin on the north elevation of the east tower. The north half of the roofing will be complete and the L8 louver installation is near completion.

    • RTX: Preparation for permanent roofing and precast exterior installation is underway at the Boxer Connection.

    September 14, 2007
    • Center Tower: On L1, the interior block walls and in-wall rough-ins are near completion. On L2, the duct and steam line rough-ins are ongoing.

    • East Tower: On B1 to L2, drywall will begin. On L6 and L7, the interior stud walls, overhead in-wall MEP rough-ins are ongoing.

    • Enclosure: At the east tower, on the north elevation, the precast is near completion. On the west elevation, brick veneer continues to be installed. On the east elevation, glass installation is underway.

    • RTX: Preparation for permanent roofing and precast exterior installation is underway at the Boxer Connection.

    August 28, 2007
    • Center Tower: On L1, the interior CMU (masonry) wall and MEP rough-ins are ongoing. On L2, the air handling units are being hooked up.

    • East Tower: On L2, the mechanical room connections are in progress. On L6 and L7, the interior walls and MEP rough-ins are ongoing. At the roof top, the Sail Wall steel erection continues.

    • Enclosure: At the east tower, brick veneer is continuing to be installed on the west elevation. Glass installation is starting on the east elevation.

    August 6, 2007
    • Center Tower: On L1, the in-wall overhead rough-ins and interior block walls are continuing to be installed. On L2, the mechanical rough-ins continue to be installed to the air handling units and pumps. EFIS soffit around the perimeter is progressing.

    • East Tower: On L6 and L7, the interior stud wall partitions and in-wall overhead rough-ins are ongoing. On the exterior, window framing on L3 and L4 is progressing on the east side. All the precast on the east side is complete.

    • Wedge: The last of the slab on grade at B1 and L1 topping will be completed.

    • RTX: L1 slab on grade is complete. L2, they are removing deck forming materials. Preparations are underway to begin roofing at the west roof.

    June 22, 2007 2007
    • Center Tower: On L1, the interior CMU (masonry) walls are continuing to be installed. On B1 and L1, the MEP overhead and in-wall rough in work is ongoing.

    • East Tower: On B1, L1 and L2, in wall MEP rough-in and insulation work is continuing. On L5, a perimeter block wall is being installed. On L8, the mid-section of the roof level is getting poured. The stair shaft extension to the roof at the north end will also be poured.

    • Enclosure: At center tower, the brick veneer is near completion. At the east tower, the cut stone placement at the east elevation continues. The brick veneer on the north elevation will be starting. On the west elevation, the precast window sill installation begins.

    • Wedge: On B1, MEP rough-in is ongoing. On L2, the west floor will be poured.

    • RTX: At RTX east, preparation for the B1 slab on grade placement continues. At RTX west, the L2 floor will be poured.

    • Center Tower: On L1, MEP rough-ins are ongoing. Interior CMU walls are starting. On L2, plumbing rough-ins are ongoing.

    • East Tower: On B1, L1, and L2, MEP rough-in is ongoing. On L4 and L5, perimeter block back-up walls are being installed. On L7, the columns and vertical shafts are near completion. On L8, the north third of the deck will be poured.

    • Enclosure: At the center tower, the brick veneer continues to be installed. At the east tower, on the east elevation, the precast setting is finishing and the stone continues to be set. On the west elevation, precast window sills will start to be installed.

    • RTX: At RTX, the L2 west deck reinforcement installation will be completed.

    June 8, 2007 2007
    • Center Tower: On L1, MEP overhead and in-wall rough-in along with interior masonry walls are being installed. On L2, the overhead MEP rough-in and equipment pad is being installed. Roofing is near completion.

    • East Tower: On B1 to L3, the MEP rough-ins are ongoing. On L4, perimeter and masonry walls are being installed. On L7, columns, elevator and stair shafts are being poured. On L8, there will be a roof pour at the north end and deck forming and reinforcing installation will continue southward.

    • Enclosure: At the center tower, the brick veneer continues to be installed. At the east tower, on the east elevation, the precast setting is finishing and the stone continues to be set. On the west elevation, precast window sills will start to be installed.

    • RTX: At RTX west, L2 deck forming and reinforcing continue.

    • Traffic Considerations: The West Campus Utility (WCU) Project has closed down parts of Highland Avenue making traffic flow difficult for all of us. A large IRC concrete pour that was scheduled this past Wednesday (June 6) stirred significant concern about traffic flow and potential congestion. Thanks to good planning and cooperation between the various West Campus projects and the UW police, this pour went off without any significant disruption to traffic. The staff at Boldt would like to thank all of the employees, students, patients and other visitors for their cooperation and understanding during this period of significant construction and growth.

      The IRC team including Boldt, UWSMPH, the State of Wisconsin DSF and all the subcontractors continue to make every effort to build the IRC safely and to minimize disruption to all who work, study or visit the health sciences campus.

      The next big IRC concrete pour is tentatively scheduled for Friday, June 15, 2007.

    June 1, 2007 2007
    • Center Tower: On L1, the interior CMU wall with in-wall and overhead MEP rough-in continues to be installed. On L2, the fire protection mains and branches continue to be installed. Roofing on the south half will begin.

    • East Tower: On B1 to L2, overhead and in-wall MEP rough-ins as well as interior wall framing is ongoing. On L3, interior block walls will be finishing this week. On L4, perimeter block walls will begin to be installed. On L7, the south third of flooring will be poured mid week. Vertical shaft and columns will begin to be formed at the south end. On L8 and the roof, shoring for decking is starting north and working south.

    • Enclosure: At the center tower, the brick veneer continues to be installed. At the east tower, the precast at the east elevation work completed, and the precast on west elevation will start this week. Stone setting will begin under the precast at the east elevation.

    • RTX: Shoring for L2 is beginning.

    • Wedge: On B1, interior wall framing with in-wall and overhead rough-in work ongoing.

    May 25, 2007 2007
    • Center Tower: On L1, MEP overhead and in-wall rough in work continues. On L2, the sprinkler mains are being installed. Roofing continues southward.

    • East Tower: At B1 and L1, MEP rough-in work continues. On L2, overhead and steam stand pipe, along with fire sprinkler main work continues to be installed. On L3, perimeter and interior block walls are being built. On L7, the north shaft and columns will be poured to roof level. After this work, shoring and decking will commence for topping out.

    • Enclosure: At the center tower, brick veneer work continues. At the east tower, the east elevation precast will be completed and stone installation will begin.

    • RTX: At RTX east, the slab on grade prep work will start. At RTX West, the three-hour fire wall is nearly complete.

    • Wedge: On B1, the in-wall electrical rough-ins have started.

    • Center Tower: On L1 and L2, MEP overhead rough-in will continue for the next five weeks.

    • East Tower: At B1, L1 and L2, the MEP wall and overhead rough-in continues to be installed. Interior wall framing is near completion. At L3, the perimeter block will continue thoughout the week. On L7, the vertical shafts and columns will start at the north end. Decking continues southward and is near completion. The middle deck portion will be poured mid-week.

    • Enclosure: At the center tower, brick veneer is being installed. At the east tower, precast panels are being installed.

    • RTX: At RTX east, the metal stair system has arrived. Underground plumbing is near completion. At RTX west, the underground plumbing rough-in is near completion. The installation of the three-hour fire wall division is starting.

    • Wedge: On B1, the interior wall framing is progressing.

    May 11, 2007 2007
    • Center Tower: On L1, MEP overhead rough-ins continue to be installed. On L2, overhead spray insulation should be completed. Fire protection rough-ins should be completed. On L3, north stair installation will be completed.

    • East Tower: At L1 and B1, overhead and in wall rough in MEPs are ongoing. On L2, overhead fire protection rough-ins are being installed. On L3, interior and exterior CMU (masonry) walls will be installed all week long. On L7, at the north end, a deck pour is scheduled for the end of the week.

    • Enclosure: At the east tower, precast concrete panels are starting to be installed. Brick veneer installation at the center tower north and west enclosure walls will continue.

    • RTX: The stairway base will be poured. Overhead electrical duct and underslab plumbing rough-ins are ongoing.

    • Wedge: On B1, interior steel stud wall installation is ongoing. On L2, the deck at the north end will be poured.

    May 4, 2007 2007
    • Center Tower: On B1, interior partition work will continue for a few more weeks. On L1, overhead plumbing rough-ins will continue at the north end. On L2, deck forming will continue through the rest of the week. Beam rebar placement should start mid-week.

    • East Tower: On B1 and L1, MEP rough-ins and interior wall installation is ongoing. On L2, plumbing overhead rough-in are in progress. HVAC materials are being loaded into this area for future use. On L3, the masons are setting up for CMU block installation at the perimeter walls. On L6, this week the south deck area will be poured, and columns will continue to be formed and poured. On L7, deck forming and rebar installation will start on the north end.

    • Enclosure: Brick veneer at the northwest corner will start mid-week.

    • RTX: At RTX east, underground plumbing excavation and piping will begin.

    • Wedge: On B1, interior wall installation is ongoing. On L2, the deck at the south end will be poured.

    April 23, 2007
    • Center Tower: On L1, plumbing and steam piping overhead will continue all week. On L2, CMU block will complete this week. North stair installation will begin this week.

    • East Tower: On B1, interior stud walls and all overhead and in-wall MEPs are ongoing. On L1 and L2, the CMU interior and perimeter wall will be completed mid-week. MEP rough-ins are ongoing. Interior steel stud walls on L1 will continue for the next three weeks. On L3, overhead plumbing and HVAC rough-ins are ongoing. On L6, the mid-area deck pour is scheduled for week’s end. Deck rebar installation will continue southward all week. Forming and pouring of stair and elevator shafts, columns and interior shear walls at both the north and south end will be ongoing throughout the week.

    • Enclosure: Masons are setting up to start the veneer brickwork this week, starting at the NW corner of the center tower.

    • RTX: Shoring removal under the west side of the L1 deck will continue in preparation for the start of underground MEPs.

    • Site: Work on the data-electrical duct banks continue along the east side.

    • Other: The temporary walkway between the HSLC and CSC will close permanently on Monday, April 23, 2007, at 4:00 p.m.

    April 13, 2007
    • Center Tower: On L1, the south one-third of the topping slab will be placed mid week. Overhead MEPs are to start at the north end.

    • East Tower: On B1 and L1, the interior steel stud wall is being installed and is followed by overhead mechanical rough-in. On L2, the perimeter and interior block will be ongoing all week. The bottom side of the structure will be spray insulated by week’s end. On L5, the south end will be poured Monday, columns and shaft walls continue to be formed and poured through this week. On L6, deck forming and rebar installation will continue southward through the rest of this week.

    • RTX: In the RTX east, prep work will begin to start the underground rough-ins. In RTX west, the last of the L1-L2 columns will be completed.

    • Wedge: The B1 interior wall framing will begin this week.

    • Site: The east side underground work for electrical supply is ongoing. Preparation continues for precast and brick installation, which will begin at the end of the month.

    March 30, 2007
    • Center Tower: On B1, the south stair installation will be completed this week. On L1, preparation for the topping placement will continue through the week. On L3, the pouring of the south deck midweek will complete this portion of phase I deck work for the center tower.

    • East Tower: On B1 and L1, interior stud wall, plumbing and overhead duct continues to be installed. On L2, the installation of the interior and perimeter CMU walls is ongoing. On L5, the second of three deck pours will be completed midweek. Pouring of columns and shear walls is ongoing. On L6, shoring and decking is beginning.

    • Wedge: The entire slab on grade area will get poured in the B1 level.

    • RTX: L1 to L2 columns will be set and poured throughout the week.

    • Site: Excavation and forming of the electrical and data in ground structure will start this week on the east side. Preparation continues for precast installation to begin in two weeks.

    March 23, 2007
    • Center Tower: On L1, prep work has started for the topping pour. The topping pours are scheduled for the weeks of 4/12/07 and 4/19/07. On L2, placement of the pour strip is ongoing. On L3, forming and reinforcement for the second half pour is scheduled for the week of 4/2/07.

    • East Tower: On B1, interior steel wall partition work is ongoing and is being followed by the MEP overhead rough-in work. On L1, the interior steel wall partition is ongoing. Understructure spray insulation is complete. MEP rough-in is ongoing. On L2, the interior perimeter block walls and overhead plumbing are being installed. On L5, workers continue to form and pour the vertical shafts and columns at the north end. Forming, reinforcing and pouring of the center area deck will be complete by weeks end.

    • Wedge: On B1 level, the slab on grade preparation and floor placement has started.

    • RTX: On RTX west, the Linac vault caps will be poured by the end of the week.

    • Site: Trench work has started along the east edge of the site for permanent power supply installation, this work will be ongoing for the next ten weeks.

    March 9, 2007
    • Center Tower: On the L1 level, perimeter masonry block and spray insulation to overhead structure will finish this week. As spray-on is finished, overhead mechanical rough-in will start.

    • East Tower: On the B1 level, interior wall framing will start and the overhead MEP rough-ins are ongoing. On the L1 level, the east sill height masonry wall will be completed and interior wall framing will begin. On L2, louver support column installation will finish by week’s end. On L4 level, the south elevator, stairs and columns will be formed and poured all week. On the L5 level, deck forming and rebar installation will continue through next week.

    • Wedge: On the B1 level, vault construction is near completion. Underground electric and plumbing will start this week to complete the area and make room for a slab on grade placement in two weeks.

    • RTX: Framing and rebar installation over linac vaults will start and will continue for a few weeks.

    February 26, 2007
    • Center Tower: Shoring and decking on level 3 north will be completed. Installation of pans and rebar will start and carry over into next week.

    • East Tower: On B1 level, underground electrical duct work should be complete this week. Data conduits are being installed. In the B1/wedge area, underground plumbing is ongoing. On level 1, HVAC ductwork is ongoing. Fire protection is setting anchors and rods. Overhead storm and acid waste installation is ongoing. On level 2 of ETE elevation, louver support steel will be installed complete by the end of the week. Stripping and reshoring of ETN level 4 will begin late in the week and will be ongoing the next few weeks. Vertical columns and shafts from level 4 to 5 are being formed this week. Forming and pouring of shear walls on ETN level 4 is scheduled to be complete pending weather. Joist and slab rebar on ETS level 4 will be installed by the end of the week.

    • Basement Vaults: The cyclotron wall pour number 3 is scheduled for the end of the week.

    • RTX: Edge forms at RTX west to elevation 100 feet will be installed complete.

    February 16, 2007
    • Center Tower: Pouring of the south end of level 2, delayed due to below normal temperatures, is anticipated to be placed mid-week. Level 3 shoring and decking will continue southward, followed by deck pan placement and beam rebar installation.

    • East Tower: Delayed because of cold weather, the north end of level 4 will be poured today. The central portion of level 4 may pour at the end of the week. Level 1 MEP overhead rough-in continues. Basement level underground electrical and plumbing is being installed. This will be followed later in the week or early next week with the slab on grade pour.

    • Basement Vaults: The concrete shielding cap over the vaults is being placed this week.

    January 26, 2007
    • Center Tower: On level 1, exterior masonry walls from grid 14K to F line will be completed. Forming and pouring shaft walls at CTN level 2 will be completed early in the week. Shoring and decking will begin on level 3 mid-week. Rebar and embed installation at CTS level 2 will be completed by the end of the week. We are anticipating a deck pour next week.

    • East Tower: In the basement, the masonry shell of the B1 electrical room will be completed in the beginning of the week. Installation of plumbing and mechanical piping is ongoing. On ETN level 4, MEP sleeves, rough-ins, beam rebar, pans, embeds, joist and slab rebar will be installed through the week. On ETS, level 4 columns will be poured complete early in the week. Forming and pouring of shaft wall are ongoing.

    • Boxer Link: The boxer connector will be completed this week.

    • RTX: Shoring will be completed and decking will begin at RTXW to elevation 94.

    • Basement Vaults: Wall pour number 3 of the east core will be poured the beginning of the week. Forming of vault cap will be completed and rebar installed by mid-week will allow for a pour by the weekend.

    January 19, 2007
    • Center Tower: Forming and pouring of the P11 column will be completed. Forming and pouring of CTN level 3 shaft and shear walls will be completed this week. Shoring and decking of CTN level 3 will begin midweek. In CTS, decking and shoring of level 2 will be completed. Pan and rebar installation will continue through the week. In the basement level, the interior CMU at the electrical and mechanical rooms will be done this week.

    • East Tower: In east tower north, the slab on grade in the electric room in the basement will be poured mid-week. Masonry walls will start to be installed at the end of the week. At level 1, erection of the ribbon wall support steel will begin toward the end of the week. The level 2 pour strip will be poured at the end of the week. Shoring for level 4 will be completed by the end of the week. Decking on level 4 will start toward the end of the week. In ETS, MEP sleeving and rough-in work at level 3 will be completed. On level 3, embeds and edge forms will be installed completely by the end of the week. Joist and slab rebar will start to be installed toward the end of the week.

    • Boxer Link: The air vapor barrier will be completed early in the week. The acoustical tile installation will be complete by mid week. All scheduled finishes will continue throughout the week.

    • RTX: Shoring and decking is ongoing at RTX west at elevation 94.

    • Basement Vaults: Wall pour number 3 of the east core will be poured at the end of the week. Wall pour number 1 of the center core will be poured at the end of the week.

    January 12, 2007
    • Center Tower: On Level 1, exterior masonry from 11-line to K-line will start this week. Forming and pouring the columns at level 3 will start to be formed and poured through next week.

    • East Tower: On ETN, Level 4, the shoring, decking, and beam rebar will start mid week. Pans and embeds will begin to be installed at the end of the week. On ETS, the Level 3 deck will be poured midweek. Forming and pouring of columns and shaft walls for Level 4 will begin after the deck pour. On Level 1, overhead MEP rough-in work will continue thru the week.

    • Boxer Link: The air vapor barrier will be completed, weather permitting. Taping and finishing will be completed. Acoustical ceiling will start to be installed toward the end of the week. The MEP finish work will start at the end of the week.

    • RTX: Shoring in the RTX west to elevation 94 will start this week.

    • Vaults: In the east core, the second wall pour is scheduled mid week. The center core will start to be formed toward the end of the week.

    December 29, 2006
    • Center Tower: Level 2 shoring and decking will continue southward along with beam and slab rebar installation.

    • East Tower: In the basement of east tower north, pouring of the structural slab in the electrical room is expected to be complete late in the week. Forming will begin for the east tower north slab on grade; the pour is scheduled for the following week. Masonry walls in the electrical room will start at the end of the week on first floor. Ribbon wall support steel will begin installation midweek and carry into next week. Stair shaft and shear walls at both ends will be elevated and poured to the next level.

    • Boxer Link: The exterior curtainwall framing will be completed by the end of the week. Exterior window installation will start mid-week.

    December 15, 2006
    • Center Tower: Overhead storm and sanitary piping is ongoing. On CTN, the level 2 first slab pour is scheduled for late in the week.

    • East Tower: On ETN level 3, the second slab pour is scheduled for the beginning of the week. The B1 imaging vaults will begin construction starting the last part of the week. The canopy on ETS level 3 will be poured at the end of the week.

    • RTX: The tunnel connection cap will be poured at the end of the week. Grading and stone work will be completed in RTX west.

    • Boxer Link: The masonry walls and parapets are completed. The roof installation will begin this week.

    December 8, 2006
    • Center Tower: In the center tower, L2 mechanical deck sleeving will be complete by midweek. The tunnel top at the tunnel crossing will be poured out by the end of the week. This will make way for the temporary steam heat to be tested and activated for the winter work in the B1 level. L2 formwork and reinforcing will be ongoing through the rest of the week. The L2 slab pour is scheduled for the following week.

    • East Tower: In the east tower north L4, the columns will start to be poured this week. The first slab pour on L3 will be poured on Monday. Shoring, decking and reinforcing at the L3 level will continue southward. Canopy shoring and decking starts this week at the main east side entry.

    • RTX: On the west, L1 shoring will start at the end of the week. The Linac vault walls will be poured complete by the end of the week making way for the balance of the drainage system installation.

    • Boxer Link: Scaffolding and winter protection will enclose the boxer. Masonry block installation will start this week.

    • Mock Up: The exterior mock Up should be complete by the end of the week.

    Nov. 3, 2006
    • Center Tower: Curing and stripping of the wedge north L1 level will begin this week and continue into next week. Wedge south L1 as well as the center tower south L1 rebar will be installed all week.

    • East Tower: Overhead storm and clear water piping will start this week and continue through the end of the month. The stripping and reshoring of east tower north L2 will be completed by the end of the week. Forming and pouring of columns in east tower north L3 should be completed by the end of the week. East tower south forming of the L2 shear walls will start this week.

    • Boxer Link: Structural steel will continue to be delivered and installation will start this week.

    • Miscellaneous: Water testing will be conducted on Wednesday.

    Oct. 27, 2006
    • Center Tower: The north slab in the wedge at level 1 will be poured later in the week.

    • East Tower: In east tower north, level 2 deck is scheduled to be poured on Wednesday. Level 3 shaft walls and columns should be poured complete. In east tower south, level 1 and 2 forming of shaft walls will start this week and continue into next week. Shoring of east tower south is ongoing.

    • RTX: Linac vault walls will be poured later in the week. Backfilling around the RTX slab will be ongoing throughout the week.

    • Tunnel: Testing of the steam piping in the east tower north section will be complete early next week.

    • Boxer Link: Structural steel will be brought back on site for the beginning of installation the following week.

    • Miscellaneous: A gas line will be run across Highland Ave. by the gas company midweek.

    Oct. 20, 2006
    • Center Tower: On level 1, deck forming will be complete by the end of the week. Overhead waste line installation work in the basement will be nearing completion and then moving on to the east tower basement.

    • East Tower: Rebar installation on level 1 in the wedge will be ongoing throughout the week. On east tower north, the stair shaft wall and columns will be formed and poured towards the end of the week. Forming on the underside of level 2 concrete (which has cured) will be stripped. On east tower south, the level 2 rebar continues south.

    • RTX: The RTX level 1 deck which was to be poured last week will happen on Monday, making way for a sequence of stair and elevator shaft walls to be placed in order to get ready to pour the east tower south level 2 deck.

    • Tunnel: Tunnel piping insulation and testing continue to prepare to tie in steam for use as temporary heat during the winter months.

    Oct. 13, 2006
    • Center Tower: Level 2 north columns will be complete by Monday. They will be testing the steam piping in the west tunnel toward the end of the week. Plumbers are hanging piping in the basement level and will continue into the next two weeks. In the south area, shoring and decking will be complete by the end of the week.

    • East Tower: Level 2 rebar will continue to be installed throughout the week in the north wedge level 1 area. Backfilling will be ongoing throughout the week. The foundation walls at the canopy in east tower south will be poured out by the end of the week. Shaft walls to level 2 will start to be formed toward the end of the week and should be poured the following week.

    • Exterior Mock-up: The level 1 and 2 curtainwall framing and air vapor barrier will be completed this week.

    • RTX: Rebar will be completely installed in the first part of the week. This large slab pour is scheduled for Tuesday. Workers will be forming and pouring the curb for the reinstallation of the Boxer connection following this pour.

    Sept. 29, 2006
    • Center Tower: Level 2 shear walls and columns will continue to be formed and poured. Hangers and plumbing piping in the basement level will continue to be installed for the next few weeks.

    • East Tower: Level 2 embeds and forming will be complete by mid week. The first of two concrete pours on the second level in east tower north is scheduled for Friday. Rebar will continue to be installed ahead of the next scheduled pour. The foundation wall at the canopy in east tower south is scheduled to be poured on Friday.

    • Exterior Mock-up: CMU walls and knee walls will be completed by mid week. Air vapor barrier strips in window openings will be installed at the end of the week.

    • RTX: Shoring, decking and rebar installation for the RTX east slab will be complete by Friday. A grade beam at the three-hour fire wall will be poured on Monday. Pipe installation and welding continues in the RTX tunnel.

    • Center Tower: Column, shaft walls and shear walls will continue to be formed and poured throughout the week.

    • East Tower: Reshoring will be completed in the beginning of the week. Shoring and decking will be ongoing on the north half of the east tower and the wedge area. Installation of rebar and pans will start on level 2. Excavation of the canopy wall on the southeast portion will be completed by the end of the week.

    • RTX: Columns in the west side will be completed in the beginning of the week. Shoring and decking in the RTX will continue throughout the week.

    Sept. 8, 2006
    • Center Tower: The second slab pour in the north section of the tower was completed on Friday. Columns will continue to be poured to L-2 throughout the week. The L-1 stair shaft forming will start this week.

    • East Tower: Reshoring will begin under the east tower north under L-1 as the forming and pouring of decks continue to climb. Shoring and decking will begin in the north half of the east tower and in the wedge between the two towers. The MEP (Mechanical-Electrical-Plumbing) contractors will continue installing their sleeving following the decks upward. On the south side of the east tower, round columns along the east edge of the tower will be poured complete by the end of the week.

    • Tunnel: Inside the tunnels, welding, piping and installation of pipe racks will continue for many weeks.

    • RTX: The water main through the RTX will be completed by midweek. Exterior footings and walls will be poured complete by the end of the week. Linac walls to L-1 will start to be formed and poured, continuing into next week.

    • Center Tower: The level one deck on the center tower north section will be poured on Tuesday, so there will be an increase in concrete truck traffic that day. Rainstorms delayed the completion of the forming.

    • East Tower: Shoring of the level two deck will begin this week. Access through the center of the site (the wedge area between the east and center towers) has been removed, underground plumbing as well as stoning and backfilling in this area will be complete.

    • RTX: Columns in the RTX area will continue to be formed and poured. Backfilling of the RTX area will be complete.

    • Center Tower: There will be a large concrete pour scheduled for Friday for the level one deck on center tower north. There will be an increase in concrete truck traffic throughout the day.

    • East Tower: There will be a large concrete pour scheduled for Wednesday for the level one deck on east tower south. There will be an increase in concrete truck traffic throughout the day.

    • RTX: Tunnel walls and vault footings will be formed and poured through out the week.

    Aug. 11, 2006
    • Center Tower: Shoring and decking for Level 1 will be ongoing throughout the week. Stone placement on the south end will be completed by mid week.

    • East Tower: Rebar placement on the south area of Level 1 will be completed by the end of the week. Sleeves for future vertical mechanical raceways will be placed in the rebar in preparation for the Level 1 deck pour scheduled for the following week.

    • RTX: Tunnel walls and tops will be poured this week as the RTX tunnel continues toward completion. Strategic access will remain open as piping is loaded and installed inside. Remaining column footings will be excavated and poured. A foundation wall next to the soil retention will also be placed this week.

    Aug. 4, 2006
    • Center Tower: Backfilling and underground plumbing is ongoing. First level forming will continue throughout the week.

    • East Tower: The first floor concrete that was poured last week will be to the correct strength and the shoring below the floor will be able to be removed. An exterior beam will be poured complete toward the end of the week. Forming and pouring of columns above first floor will begin and continue into next week. Installation of rebar and deck pans will continue throughout the week in the southern part of the east tower. The next deck pour (continuation of the first floor) for the southern area is scheduled for the following week.

    • RTX: The last of the Linac vault walls will be poured up to the basement level in the beginning of the week. Work will continue on completing the two connection areas of the tunnel. The mechanical contractor will continue to stock the tunnels with piping.

    July 28, 2006
    • Center Tower: Backfilling and underground plumbing will continue through the week. This work facilitates the forming and shoring of the first level in the center tower.

    • East Tower: Due to the torrential rain storm last Thursday, the first level pour is scheduled for all day on Monday. There will be an estimated 1,000 yards poured. Monday should see an increase in concrete truck traffic; however, flag personnel and on-site staging should help limit the disruption.

    • RTX: Columns and column footings will continue to be formed and poured in the area. Tunnel work at the connections will be ongoing in the RTX areas.

    July 21, 2006
    • Center Tower: Backfilling and underground plumbing will continue through the week. This work facilitates the forming and shoring of the first level in the center tower.

    • East Tower: The rebar and embeds for the first floor decking should be installed by mid-week. This sets up the required rebar inspection by the project designer/engineer. The first level pour is scheduled for all day on Friday. There will be an estimated 1,000 yards poured. Friday should see an increase in concrete truck traffic; however, flag personnel and on-site staging should help limit the disruption.

    • RTX: The current linac vault in the RTX area where the CSC is installing a new tomoproton unit requires a concrete shielding wall so work can continue around the surrounding area. Columns and column footings will continue to be formed and poured in the area.

    July 14, 2006
    • Center Tower: The foundation wall in the north area of the center tower will be poured complete. This makes way for the completion of the backfilling.

    • East Tower: Shoring and decking of the first floor in the east tower north will be complete by the end of the week. All mechanical, electrical and plumbing sleeves will be installed in order to create vertical access holes for piping and ductwork to be installed at a later date. Elevator walls will be poured in east tower south. Backfillling and stone placement will be ongoing as shoring and decking is installed in the south part of the tower.

    • RTX: The RTX tunnel bottom will be poured at the connection near the CSC. Plumbing and sanitary connections will be completed in this area at the same time.

    • Note of Interest: Shoring is the temporary metal vertical columns used to support the first floor deck forming and are in place to support the pouring and curing of the concrete as floor decks are poured higher and higher.

    June 30, 2006
    • Center Tower: Foundation walls on the north side of the center tower will start to be poured and completely close the north section of center tower by next week.

    • East Tower: Forming of the first floor elevated slab on the north side will continue this week. The wedge-shaped area between the two towers is the focus of many activities over the next two weeks; footings, columns and tunnel connections must be formed and poured. When complete, backfilling in this area will happen, regaining access back into the site.

    • RTX: Excavation and footing work is ongoing. Pile caps supporting a future tomo vault will be poured.

    • Tunnel: Steam piping continues to be welded and placed into position in the west tunnel .

    • Site: Underslab plumbing will continue in both east and center tower’s north.

    • Center Tower: The foundation walls on the west side will be poured complete this week. Foundation walls on the north side of the center tower will start to be poured and completely close the north section of center tower by next week.

    • East Tower: Forming of the first floor elevated slab on the north side will continue this week. Backfilling will continue on the southeast side in order to continue work out of the ground.

    • RTX: Excavation and footing work is ongoing.

    • Tunnel: The footing for the tunnel section between the center tunnel crossing to the east tower tunnel will be poured this week. This will start to complete the tunnel work in the center of the site.

    • Site: Underslab plumbing will continue in both east and center tower’s north.

    June 16, 2006
    • Center Tower: The foundation walls on the west side of the tower will continue to be formed and poured throughout the week and should be complete next week.

    • East Tower: Columns and walls on the southeast side of the east tower will be formed and poured. Forming of the first floor elevated slab on the north side will begin next week.

    • RTX: All micropile and caisson work has been complete on the site for this phase of the project. There will be a lot of excavation and footing work in this area in the next few weeks.

    • Tunnel: Tunnel walls over the south mass footing (in the east tower) will be formed and poured. Tunnel work in the RTX area will continue northward to connect with the IRC building steam tunnel. Steam piping sections that were placed in tunnels earlier are presently being welded together and placed into racks.

    • Site: Center access into the site will be eliminated over the next week with the continued excavation of remaining column pads and tunnel connections.

    June 9, 2006
    • Center Tower: The elevator walls on the north side of the building will be formed and poured complete to the basement level. Two acid dilution basins will be installed before the rest of the area can be backfilled. The stairway in the south area of the building will be poured complete to the basement level. Foundation walls on the west side of the center tower continue to be formed and poured.

    • East Tower: Elevator walls on the south side of the building will be formed and poured complete to the basement level.

    • RTX: Caisson work is scheduled to be complete by the end of the week. This will make room in the area for the micropiles to start up again and continue into next week. Excavation of the interior footings will be complete by the end of the week.

    • Tunnel: Tunnel footing will be installed at the south RTX tunnel portion early in the week. Tunnel walls across the mass footing in the east tower area will be formed and poured throughout the week and continue into next week.

    • Site: An additional crane will be erected at weeks end. It will be a track crane that will travel along the east side of the project and provide the additional hook time that is needed for beginning of the superstructure. Weeks end will also bring numerous deliveries of forming materials for the start of the superstructure.

    June 2, 2006
    • Center Tower: Forming and rebar work will start this week along the southwestern foundation and stairway walls and continue south. The first section of wall will be poured for the basement level of the building at the end of the week.

    • East Tower: Underslab drainage and stone will be installed on the north side of the building. This stone base is the final step in this area before starting of the superstructure work scheduled for June 15. Backfilling of previously poured foundation walls on the east side will continue throughout the week.

    • East Tower--South: The forming and pouring of the stairway and elevator walls up to the basement level of the building will be complete by the end of the week.

    • RTX: More caisson work will continue throughout the week. Micropiles (mini caissons) will also continue to be installed in the vault/CSC area in the southwest corner. Excavation and forming of the tunnel portion that runs through the RTX and connects to the existing tunnel will start and will continue for approximately one month.

    • Road Construction: Starting on Monday, June 5: Highland Ave. will require work just east of the Waisman Center. This work will start after 9 a.m. on Monday. This will require the east-bound lane to be closed for five to six days depending on weather. East-bound traffic will be re-routed into the left turn lane (in front of Lot 82) of the west-bound side. Two-way traffic will be maintained at all times during the roadwork. Please be cautious of the lane shift due to the construction.

    • Center Tower-North: Shear and elevator walls will be formed and poured in the interior portion of center tower-north throughout the week.

    • Center Tower-South: The interior portion of center tower-south will be backfilled and completed by the end of the week. Foundation walls along the west side of the center tower near the tunnel will be formed and poured throughout the next few weeks. The work will progress from the midpoint of the center tower toward the south near the existing linac vaults.

    • Tunnel: Tunnel damproofing on the west tunnel will be complete. Tunnel walls in the southern area of the site will continue to be formed and poured.

    • East Tower--North: Underslab drainage and stone will be laid out and will be complete by the beginning of next week. Underground plumbing will be ongoing throughout the week.

    • East Tower--South: The forming and pouring of the stairway and elevator walls up to the basement level of the building will be complete by the end of the week.

    • RTX: More caissons are required and continue to be placed throughout the next few weeks. Micropile placement will begin and continue into the next week. Excavation on the southeast area of the RTX will begin this week.

    • Tunnel: Forming and pouring of the tunnel walls that run over the east tower south mass footing will be complete by the end of the week.

    • East Tower--North: Backfilling should be complete early in the week. The foundation wall between the east tower and the wedge area on the north face of the building will be formed, and concrete is scheduled to be poured midweek. Interior underground sanitary and storm piping is ongoing.

    • RTX: Caisson work should finish up at the end of the week. Also all underpinning work to the CSC foundation will be complete by the end of the week.

    • Center Tower-North: Underground sanitary lines are being installed and will continue into next week.

    • Center Tower-South: Excavation will complete midweek on the south mass footing. Rebar installation for the mass footing will continue into next week.

    • Tunnel: The tunnel south of the center crossing will be formed and poured complete as far as space will allow next week. Areas need to remain open for equipment and worker access. On Saturday, May 20, tunnels placed to date will be stocked with steam pipe while access openings still exist.

    • East Tower--North: Backfilling will be complete by Friday. Underground sanitary/storm lines will be installed in the interior portion of the east tower.

    • East Tower--South: Foundation, elevator and stairway walls will be formed and poured. This will continue into next week.

    • RTX: Caisson work is ongoing. Weather delayed the start of underpinning of the CSC, so this task will be ongoing and complete by the following week. Excavation around the existing RTX vault in order to create a future building connection will start this week.

    • Center Tower-North: Forming and rebar installation for the elevator and shear wall just north of the tunnel will be ongoing throughout the week. Backfilling will continue as more walls are poured.

    • Center Tower-South: Excavation for the south mass footing will be complete by end of the week.

    • Tunnel: The tunnel crossing and connector walls will be formed and poured complete. The tunnel south of the tunnel crossing will continue to be formed and poured proceeding toward the RTX area.

    • East Tower--North: The foundation wall along the north side of the east tower where the tower connects to the wedge area will be formed and poured.

    • East Tower--South: Rebar for the elevator and stairway walls will begin to be installed.

    • RTX: Caisson work is ongoing. Underpinning at the CSC wall will be complete by the end of the week.

    • Center Tower-North: Backfilling of the interior will be complete by the end of the week. Toward the end of the week, the interior shear wall and elevator wall will start to be formed just north of the tunnel.

    • Center Tower-South: Lagging and tie-backs along the south west corner will be complete next week. This along with the mass excavation will prepare for the next large mass footing to be poured.

    • Tunnel: The north tunnel will be waterproofed complete next week. At the tunnel crossing the connections will start to be formed and poured towards the end of the week and will continue into the next week. The south tunnel will begin to be formed and forming and pouring will continue into the next week.

    • East Tower--North: The foundation wall along the northwest corner of the east tower will be formed and poured. Interior underground plumbing will start to be placed.

    • East Tower--South:The shear wall to the south of the tunnel will be formed and poured, to facilitate backfilling in the center of the site. East exterior foundation wall will continue to be formed and poured moving toward the south.

    • RTX: Caisson work will continue in the RTX area working from the south east corner moving toward the north.

    • Center Tower: Excavation for the second mass footing will be ongoing throughout the week. Interior back-fill work will start.

    • Tunnel: The south tunnel footings are continuing to be formed and poured.

    • East Tower: Interior shear walls will be poured toward the end of the week.

    • East Tower--South: Install interior footings north of the recently poured mass footing.

    • RTX: Caisson drilling and installing in the RTX are ongoing for the next 2-3 weeks.

    • Center Tower--North: Completion of forming and pouring interior columns and begin core drilling shear walls for underground plumbing hookups.

    • Center Tower--South: Begin excavation on the mass footing for the center tower. Earth retention will begin at the existing linac vault.

    • Tunnel: Both form and pour tunnel walls from the west side toward the tunnel crossing in the center of the site.

    • East Tower--North: Install rebar and pour concrete for wall (between the two towers). Form and pour shear wall just north of the east tunnel.

    • East Tower--South: Install interior footings north of the recently poured mass footing.

    • RTX: Caissons will start being installed around the RTX area. This work will continue for a few weeks. There will be some vibration resulting from movement of the drill rig and auguring of the earth to form the holes before the caissons are poured.

    • Earth Day: Earth Day is recognized on April 22, 2006. The job will take the lunch hour on Friday, April 21, to reinforce our commitment to recycling program for construction materials. We will also observe the Severe Weather Awareness week to remind all personnel the procedures in place in case of severe weather occurring during the work day

    • Tower Crane: The south tower crane will be completely raised by Sunday, April 9. It will be tested and approved for use in the beginning of the week.

    • Site Work--Tunnel: Forming and pouring of walls will continue on both the east and west tunnels. The north tunnel will be treated with spray damproofing and protection board.

    • RTX Area : An earth retention system will be placed early in the week around the north side of Linac 4. This is protection around the linear vault from the next phase of construction. Because of the auguring method used to place the protection, noise and vibration should be kept to a minimum.

    March 31, 2006
    • Tower Crane: The crane to erect the south tower crane is scheduled to arrive on Wednesday. The jib height of this crane will reach over 200 ft. (This jib will be lowered each night.) The framing and boom for the south tower crane will start to arrive on Thursday. It will take four days to erect the south tower crane to the full height.

    • Site Work--Tunnel: The rebar will start being placed for the tunnel walls on the east and west sides of the site. The walls will be poured at the end of the week. The tunnel crossing walls in the center of the site will be formed throughout the whole week, pouring for the tunnel crossing is expected next week.

    • Site Work--Center Tower: The interior columns will be placed and poured on the north side of the center tower. This will complete most of the footings in this area and backfilling can begin to cover the footings. This area will be used for staging when work begins on the south side of the center tower.

    • Site Work--East Tower: The excavator will begin backfilling around the mass footing that was poured last week. This will make room for more caissons to be placed in the south area of the east tower. Backfilling around the north side to the floor elevation will be completed. Smaller footings on the east side of the south mass footing will continue to be placed. Excavation progress has eliminated both east and west side site access and the center gate at the north tower crane is the only ramp remaining to access the basement level.

    March 24, 2006
    • Mass Footing--East Tower South: The mass footing is scheduled to be poured on Wednesday, March 29. The goal is to pour 250 yards per hour. Two pumping trucks will be utilized, and pouring will start promptly at 7 a.m. Two-way traffic will be maintained on Highland Ave. However, it will be impacted by the increased truck traffic, averaging 25 trucks per hour. Flag persons and signage will be in place. Please be aware and drive slowly. The pour is expected to last all day. Interior column placement will finish on the north half of the east tower, then will start on the north half of the center tower.

    • Site Utilities: The water main along the north side of the site is complete and being backfilled. This will allow for more road and a staging area along the north side of the project.

    • Site Work: The north end of the tunnel will be formed and poured. Backfilling around the tunnel footing will be starting and will continue as more tunnel is formed and poured.

    March 17, 2006
    • Site Work: The below-basement-floor-level tunnel activities will begin to accelerate this week, with tunnel floor placement in all four directions from the tunnel crossing area in the center of the site. Wall and tunnel cap forming will follow shortly after, and will occur on top of those tunnel floors.

    • Mass Footing--East Tower South: The mass footing forming and rebar placement will be complete this week. A rebar inspection will be required before the large all-day pour scheduled for next week.

    • Site Utilities: The last of the water main installation work will be completed across the north side of the site from west to east.

    March 10, 2006
    • Site Work: Foundation walls will be extended along the northwest line of the center tower throughout the week. A large tunnel footing from the west side of the center tower to the tunnel crossing in the center of the site will be formed, and the first section of this footing will be poured toward the end of the week. There will be an increase of concrete truck traffic. On the north half of the east tower, columns will be formed and poured.

    • Mass Footing--East Tower South: The excavation of the mass footing is being completed and rebar placement has begun. Forming and rebar placement will take all of this week and into next week to complete. Note: This mass footing is the largest one that will be placed on this project.

    • South Tower Crane: The installation of the south tower crane has been delayed due to supplier delivery dates having to be extended. The crane is being shipped from the west coast and is expected within the next two weeks.

    • Underground Electrical: Grounding and lightning protection has started and will continue as the building begins to grow out of the ground.

    March 3, 2006
    • Site Work: The tunnel floor will be formed and poured in the center tower from the west side to the center of the site during the middle of the week of March 6. There will be an increase in concrete truck traffic to handle this work. At the same time, on the east tower, columns along the east wall will be formed and poured.

    • Mass Footing--East Tower South:: The excavation will be complete in the early part of the week for the next mass footing. Forming and reinforcing will begin in the middle of the week of March 6 continue into the next week.

    February 24, 2006
    • Site Work: Foundation walls in the northwest corner of the center tower will be formed and concrete pouring will commence toward the end of the week of Feb. 27. There will be a slight increase of concrete truck traffic. The steam tunnel crossing bottom, in the center of the site, will be formed and poured. This is the start of the completion of work in the deepest part of the site. Mass foundation excavation in the south part of the east tower will continue through the week and will be completed by the end of the week.

    • South Tower Crane: The second tower crane will start arriving toward the end of the week of Feb. 27. Raising of the crane will be completed by the following week.

    February 17, 2006
    • Site Work: Forming of the tunnel walls on the north side of the site will progress throughout the next week. In the deep excavation area, four footings (20’ x 30’ 6’) will be poured. Excavation of the next mass footing (100’ x 120’ concrete footing) will start later in the week.

    • South Tower Crane: The 60’ deep caissons will be completed and the tower crane foundation will be formed. The tower crane base will be placed toward the end of the week. This tower crane will be over 200' tall (above the height of the CSC building). The north tower crane will also be raised over 200' in height. Note about tower cranes: When tower cranes are not in use, the break is released and the crane is allowed to weathervane (swing in the direction of the wind). In case you ever wonder what direction the wind is blowing on a particular day, check the tower crane.

    • Site Work: Walls on the north side of the east tower will continue to be formed and poured in succession with the previous walls poured. The tunnel crossing footings (the deepest point) in the center of the site will be completed and backfilled.

    • South Tower Crane: Caissons will be drilled out and poured on the south side of the site near the CSC to prepare for the pad for the second tower crane. This south tower crane is scheduled to be delivered at the beginning of March.

    February 3, 2006
    • Site Work: The north leg of the steam tunnel’s bottom slab, just east of the center tower, will be poured. Footings that support the steam tunnel, in the center of the site, will also be poured throughout the coming week. The outer shear walls (exterior walls) on the north end of the east tower will be completed.

    • Site Work Excavation: Excavation for the east tower central large footing will be completed; a lot of earth will be exported from the site during the week of Feb. 6. There will be a slight increase in dump truck traffic throughout the week. Crews will also begin excavating the area where the second tower crane will be erected at the south end of the site. Electrical poles will be raised to run electricity to the future tower cane. Soil retention in the south end of the site in the CSC area will be completed.

    January 27, 2006
    • Site Work: Excavation will continue along the center tower where the steam tunnel is being placed. The mud mat will be placed during the week of Jan. 30 to prepare for the placement of the northern leg of the tunnel bottom concrete slab. Foundation walls will continue to be formed and poured on the north end of both the center and east towers.

    • Site Work: Foundation walls continue to be formed and poured around the north end of the center tower. An electrical duct along the south end of the project will be relocated to provide access for continued excavation for more footings and a steam tunnel.

    • Excavation: More excavation continues on the south end of the east tower to prepare for a future mass foundation footing.

    • Site Work: Pouring of foundation walls will continue on both the center and east towers. Mass excavation in the south area has started. This initial work is to accommodate new on-site access routes and to prepare the next mass foundation which will be poured next month.

    • Sewer Ejection Pump Installation: Beginning Monday, Jan. 9, a sewer ejection pump will be installed and connected to the L3 module at the CSC for use during the duration of the project.

    • Earth Retention: Drilling of the support column caissons near the CSC will begin on Monday, Jan. 16. These are a form of foundation support that measure 60 feet deep by 5 feet wide. This work should not impact anyone because it is within the construction perimeter.

    • Site Work: Walls along the outer edge of the east tower will continue to be formed and poured. In addition, construction crews will start forming outer walls on the center tower.

    December 30, 2005
    • Building Foundation: The north foundation walls will continue to be formed and poured. The interior footing pads also will continue to be backfilled.

    • Utilities: The east side utility connections along the HLSC will be completed next week. This will allow for the abandonment of the existing sanitary line in this area.

    • Earth Retention: Earth retention along the CSC will continue throughout the week. Three eight-foot caissons will be installed near the southeast edge.

    • Mass Excavation: Excavation of the east tower foundation area will continue through to the RTX foundation area.

    • Site Work: Work on foundation walls will continue along the north side of the east tower. Interior foundation pads also will be placed throughout the week.

    • Utilities: Utility work will contine within the perimeter of the construction fence along Highland Ave. this week. This work does not impact traffic along Highland Ave.

    • Healing Garden: Earth retention will be ongoing in the Healing Garden for the next three to four weeks. This work is taking place mainly outside of the first floor offices of the School of Nursing. There will be some noise and vibration in this area.

    December 16, 2005
    • Site Work: Excavation will continue through the middle of the site. The excavation and foundations for the steam tunnel will begin this week.

    • Utilities: Utility work will be occuring within the perimeter of the construction fence along Highland Ave. this week. This work does not impact traffic along Highland Ave.

    December 9, 2005
    • Noise/Vibration Near School of Nursing and Radiotherapy: On Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 12 and 13, there will be some additional noise and vibration as workers continue demolition of the steam tunnel. Demolition will be nearly complete by the end of the week of Dec. 12. The area affected is also near the new covered walkway between the CSC and HSLC.

    • Site Work: Forming and pouring of walls on the east tower is expected to begin on Dec. 12 and continue through the week.

    • Utilities: Utility work on Highland Ave. near the Waisman Center will continue all this week.

    December 2, 2005
    • Healing Garden: The covered crosswalk will be open to pedestrians at the lower level between HSLC and CSC on December 5.

    • Noise/Vibration East Side – Healing Garden Area: On Monday, Dec. 5, two test holes will be bored near the K6 Module--School of Nursing. One is on the east side of the Healing Garden area. The other will be bored on the north side of K6 between the two exits all within our construction fence. This will occur on Monday only, there will be some noise and vibration involved with this job.

    • Site Work: There will be interior column pads poured within the construction site perimeter. There will be a slight increase of concrete trucks but should only minimally impact traffic on Highland Ave through out the week.

    • Utilities: Utility work on Highland Ave. near the Waisman Center will impact traffic from Tuesday, Dec. 6, thru Friday, Dec. 9, in order for the utility work to be complete, curbs poured, and road patched. East bound traffic will shift into part of the west-bound traffic lane. However, two-way traffic will be maintained.

    November 25, 2005
    • Healing Garden: The side walls are being raised to form the enclosure around the walk between the HSLC and CSC. The enclosure's roofing will be completed during the week of Nov. 28.

    • Site Work: Forming of the foundation walls along the north end of the east tower will start during the week of Nov. 28. There will be a series of small pours within the job site along the west side of the center tower. Traffic on Highland Ave. will experience minimal impact.

    • Utilities: The utility work south of Highland Ave. (across from the Waisman Center) has passed the bus stop area and will continue along the south side of Highland Ave. to the west side of the center tower. The bus stop and pedestrian walk between the J-West entrance of the CSC and the Waisman Center are scheduled to open early in the week of Nov. 28 after curbing and concrete work have been placed.

    • Tower Crane: The tower crane has been placed and will be operational after the Thanksgiving holiday. It will remain at this current height until next spring when the second tower crane is scheduled to be placed. It will then be raised to its full height for the duration of the project.

    November 18, 2005
    • Healing Garden: The concrete sidewalk between the HSLC and CSC has been poured. Framing of the enclosure between the buildings has begun and will continue through the week of Nov. 21.

    • Utilities: The utility work has passed the Bus Stop across from the Waisman Center. The rest of the curbing and the pedestrian sidewalk will be placed during the week of Nov. 21. The walk will be open the week of November 28.

    • Tower Crane: Erection of the north tower crane will begin next week.

    November 16, 2005
    • Due to the placement of an existing water main on the corner of Highland Ave. and the CSC Dock Service Entrance, installation of the piping to the main has been more difficult. Therefore, utility work turning the corner on Highland Ave. has slowed. This will delay the opening of the new asphalt walk between Waisman and J-West until Tuesday, November 29.

    November 11, 2005
    • Healing Garden: All of the upper level earth retention is complete. The lower level retention is still scheduled to be installed. When this is complete, the paved sidewalk and walkway enclosure will be placed.

    • Utilities: Utility work was impacted by large amounts of existing utility piping that had to be carefully worked around the J West entrance. Utility work will follow the existing CSC dock driveway toward Highland Ave. Utilities will be installed eastward along Highland Ave. in front of the large mat footings that were previously placed. The new walk between Waisman and J West should be completed by the end of the day on Friday, Nov. 18, and open for pedestrians by Monday, Nov. 21.

    • Site Work: Mass excavation will continue along the west side of the construction site, and multiple concrete column pads will be placed along this side of the construction site throughout the week of Nov. 14. There should be minimal impact to vehicles along Highland Ave.

    November 4, 2005
    • Significant Truck Traffic Expected Related to Large Concrete Pour on Monday, Nov. 7: The large concrete pour for the east tower north mat has been scheduled for Monday, Nov. 7, from approximately 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Some concrete trucks will be staged on the site and some at the Lot 76 turnaround. A pump truck that pulls concrete from another truck to the mat location will be set up just west of the Highland Ave./Walnut St. intersection. East-bound traffic will be impacted by truck traffic. Flagmen will help direct traffic. Traffic at the Highland Ave./Walnut St. intersection should not be impacted.

    • Healing Garden: The installation of the earth retention system has been slowed by about seven to 10 days due to the extra care needed to identify and avoid underground utilities.

    • Tower Crane: The first of two tower cranes will be delivered on Tuesday, Nov. 15. The crane is anticipated to be 240 feet tall with a boom extension of 208 feet.

    October 28, 2005
    • Healing Garden: All demolition is complete. Crews have started installing the temporary earth retention system from the middle concrete stairway to the CSC. This will continue for about a week.

    • Site Work: Smaller concrete foundation pads will continue being installed for the east tower line adjacent to the HSLC parking lot. Forming has begun on the east tower north mat, which is the same size as the major pad on the center tower that was poured earlier. This east tower north mat is anticipated to be poured late in the week of Oct. 31.

    • Helipad: Starting Tuesday morning, Nov. 1, the helipad will be relocated to its permanent location on top of the CSC. Helicopters will no longer land on the ground. The former helipad space will be used for more construction delivery space and a new asphalt pedestrian walk from the Waisman Center to J-West of the CSC.

    • Utilities: Starting on Nov. 1, a new sanitary and storm line will be begin being installed for the future IRC.

    Oct. 21, 2005
    • Temporary Emergency Route Change in CSC: The K7 stairwell that was used as an emergency exit will be closed as of Thursday, Oct. 27, at 7 a.m. Subsequently, the L6 stairwell, which was closed earlier, will be re-opened as the new emergency stairwell.

    • Site Work: A storm sewer has been temporary re-routed to allow work to begin next week on the large north footing of the east tower. Also, the north footing of the center tower will be placed on Monday, Oct. 24.

    • Healing Garden: Dismantling of the Healing Garden will begin on Monday, Oct. 24. The existing retention boulders will be removed and stored, to be re-installed at a later date. Soil will be removed to allow installation of the required earth retention system.

    Sept. 30, 2005
    • Excavation near the old Boxer Connector and surrounding areas is underway in order to start footings and foundations. There will be a lot of dump truck traffic hauling dirt from the site.

    • The walkway between the Clinical Science Center (CSC) and Health Sciences Learning Center (HSLC) will be closed as excavation proceeds to the south.

    • Temporary stairs are being installed in the Healing Garden area to serve as emergency exits from the HSLC and CSC buildings.

    • The Walnut/Marsh intersection has been completed.

    • Please remember that construction sites are dangerous and only authorized personnel with correct credentials and protection are allowed on site. For your safety, please obey signage because many pedestrian and bike paths have been re-routed and entryways to surrounding buildings have been changed to keep people away from construction activities.
