Patricia K. Kokotailo
Associate Dean for Faculty Development and Affairs
Patricia K. Kokotailo, MD, MPH, is a professor of pediatrics and the director of adolescent medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. She received her MD degree from Northwestern University Medical School and completed her residency in pediatrics and fellowship in adolescent medicine at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. She completed a Masters in Public Health degree in maternal and child health at the University of Illinois-Chicago.
For 10 years she was the director of pediatric medical education at the University of Wisconsin, directing all medical student education programs in pediatrics. Currently she is the principal investigator for a federally funded, interdisciplinary primary care faculty development grant at the University of Wisconsin.
She is a member of the editorial board for the publication Adolescent Health Update, and was an associate editor for the textbook Pediatrics (Eds. Osborne, DeWitt, First and Zenel, Elsevier, 2005).
She presents extensively in the areas of faculty development in medical education and substance abuse education at the national and international level, and is a visiting professor at King’s College London. Her research interests are medical education (including faculty development) and high-risk behaviors in adolescents. Her clinical interests include sexuality; growth and development; alcohol, tobacco and other drug use; and mental health issues in adolescents and young adults.
