Christine S. Seibert, MD
Associate Dean for Medical Education

Christine Seibert, MD, received her medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago. She completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. She joined the UW School of Medicine and Public Health faculty in 1995.

An associate professor in the UW School of Medicine and Public Health's Department of Medicine, Seibert has been deeply involved in medical student and resident teaching, faculty development, and research in medical education.

For the past 10 years, Seibert has co-directed Patient, Doctor and Society (PDS), a required, four-semester course for first- and second-year medical students that teaches communication skills, physical examination skills, evidence-based medicine, professionalism and ethics. The PDS position has entailed designing and implementing curriculum, including large-group, small-group and clinical activities; directing ongoing curriculum management and innovation; leading faculty development efforts; and providing leadership to recruit and retain more than 200 generalist clinic preceptors.

In addition, Seibert has received the Dean's Teaching Award from the UW SMPH and has been elected a fellow in the UW Teaching Academy. She presents her work regularly at regional and national education meetings.

A dedicated physician who feels strongly that her clinical practice lends legitimacy to her educational work, Seibert practices at the UW Health East general internal medicine clinic.

In her role as associate dean of medical education, Seibert is responsible for the overall development, management and assessment of the MD curriculum. She ensures that the school achieves and maintains new MD standards set by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education, and oversees implementation of changes that are expected to result from an expansive MD curriculum re-evaluation process that began in fall 2006.
