Erik J. Stratman, MD
Associate Dean for the Marshfield Academic Campus
Erik J. Stratman, MD received a BS in mechanical engineering in 1994 and a medical degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine in 1998. He completed his transitional internship and dermatology residency at the Marshfield Clinic in Marshfield, Wisconsin, and a dermatology residency at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In 2002, he returned to the Marshfield Clinic to begin his practice as a dermatologist.
His medical education interests include adult learning theory and problem-based learning curriculum development. These interests resulted in multiple grant awards from the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) to create and disseminate an innovative dermatology curriculum which has gained national attention among dermatology training programs. He returned to Marshfield Clinic to develop a categorical dermatology residency. Continuing professional development in education included completion of courses from 2003-2006 from the University of Wisconsin in teaching and leadership and completion of the Masters in Academic Leadership program of the American Academy of Dermatology. His service to the educational mission of the AAD was recognized in 2005 when the AAD presented Dr. Stratman with the distinguished Presidential Citation for his service. In 2007, he became the Chairman for the Council on Education for the AAD, a role he maintains today.
In addition to being the Associate Dean, Dr. Stratman's other UW academic appointments include Clinical associate professor for the Department of Dermatology at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health and Fellow of the Teaching Academy at the University of Wisconsin
Dr. Stratman is currently division medical director for the Marshfield Clinic Division of Education. In 2007, he was appointed Associate Dean for the Marshfield Academic Campus of the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. The Marshfield Academic Campus provides educational programs for third-and fourth-year medical students and physician assistant students. Marshfield Academic Campus locations include Marshfield, Wausau, Eau Claire, Minocqua and Rice Lake. These locations combined provide more than 120 faculty physicians that serve with clinical appointments to the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.
