This award honors a UW School of Medicine and Public Health or UW Hospital and Clinics employee who has been particularly supportive and helpful to students and alumni.

Kathleen O'Toole Smith
Kathleen O’Toole Smith earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1984. Born in Eugene, Oregon, and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, she is the daughter of Richard O’Toole, professor of sociology, and Anita O’Toole, professor of nursing, both at Kent State University. Kathleen joined the University of Wisconsin Foundation in 1997 as Director of Development for the School of Medicine and Public Health. Her responsibilities have included fundraising efforts on behalf of the Health Sciences Learning Center and School of Medicine and Public Health Alumni along with the Departments of Surgery, Neurosurgery and Neurology.

Kathleen is married to Jeff Smith and they have two children.
