2009 Honorary Life Membership Award Recipient
Renee Reback
Ms. Reback is the executive director of the Wisconsin Medical Society Foundation. Since joining the foundation, she and her staff, with the support of the society's Board of Trustees and other community partners, have expanded activities substantially.
She initiated the White Coat Campaign, developed the popular Operation Education program and increased scholarship awards from just over $20,000 to more than $50,000 in seven years. She also increased support for Summer Fellowships in Government and Community Service from $1,500 to $35,000, convened the Student Loan Task Force to ensure that the foundation's student loan program remained competitive with current sources of medical school funding and developed opportunities for medical students to increase support for involvement with the American Medical Association.
After Ms. Reback earned a degree in English education at Florida Atlantic University, she and her husband moved to Wisconsin in 1979 and purchased a farm. She officially returned to the work force at a property management firm then transitioned to not-for-profit for VSA Arts Wisconsin. Ms. Reback is a founding member of the Friends of the Mazomanie Free Library.
