The Department of Biomolecular Chemistry at the University of Wisconsin-Madison has long been recognized as one of the premier medical school-associated departments of biochemical sciences in the United States and throughout the world.
The department, part of the UW School of Medicine and Public Health, has achieved many seminal discoveries and advances over the last century.
These developments have occurred in diverse areas and include key discoveries related to mechanisms regulating gene expression and genome maintenance, protein folding and trafficking, enzyme structure and function and the multiple pathways of signal transduction.
The PhD program in biomolecular chemistry trains highly qualified scientists in the study of fundamental biochemical processes, especially in the areas of structure, function and chemistry of biological molecules.
