The Department of Medicine at the University of Wisconsin-Madison teaches health care professionals at all levels (undergraduate, UW School of Medicine and Public Health, postgraduate, continuing medical education and allied health professional education).
This activity includes efforts to develop and maintain a curriculum that is appropriate for the education of health care providers in the next century, and to enhance the effectiveness of the educational process through innovation.
Department of Medicine faculty are actively engaged in community-based patient care. They provide primary care to many patients living in the Madison area, the full range of subspecialty care to local and regional patients and state-of-the-art innovation in many areas of medicine.
UW-Madison is known for its strong research environment and is steeped in academic excellence. The Department of Medicine's scholarly efforts are integrated with those of colleagues at the UW School of Medicine and Public Health and other schools on campus.
