About the Office of Research & Graduate Studies

The UW School of Medicine and Public Health's Office of Research and Graduate Studies assists faculty in all phases of research administration. The staff provides information on funding opportunities (SPIN, IREX, IRIS), assists with proposal preparation, and reviews and approves all research proposals originating within the school. In addition, material transfer agreements and confidentiality agreements are reviewed by this office. Other support services managed by this office include clinical trials administration, the investigational review board for human subjects research, creation of media products to enhance research and education, animal care facilities, and technology transfer activities.

Tracy is the administrator of a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Research Resources Program grant to the UW Medical School and provides financial oversight to a Robert Wood Johnson/Health Professions Partnership Initiative grant. Tracy maintains a database of Medical School faculty start-up support commitment. She also acts as staff to the Medical School Research Committee. Tracy is also developing a database of all graduate students enrolled in Medical School departments or working in Medical School laboratories.

In charge of administrative review of agreements and grant applications. Sandi also has years of experience advising on policies and procedures that apply to sponsored projects. Contact Sandi with questions about the viability of conditions or arrangements you want to propose or accept. You would also want to contact Sandi to schedule a review and approval of documents for submission to a sponsor.

Debbie is in charge of locating funding opportunities and data management for the Extramural Support Office. Contact Debbie when you are in need assistance finding funding sources, preparing electronic forms, getting reports on proposal and award activity, and for assistance with proposal preparation and processing.
