A Message from the Dean
Thank you for your interest in the University of
Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.
We take great pride in our educational mission and view medical
student education as the cornerstone in our foundation of academic
excellence. We are dedicated to preparing outstanding leaders in
all aspects of the field, from clinical practice to research and
academics. This preparation will be greatly enhanced by the school’s
recent transformation into an integrated school of medicine and
public health. The integration brings together medicine, which traditionally
focuses on individual patients from molecular, cellular and organ-system
perspectives, with public health, which focuses on populations ranging
from neighborhoods to towns, states, countries and even the “global
village.”
I invite you to review the following pages, which
provide a detailed account of our philosophy, our curriculum, our
faculty, our facilities and our students. Please take special note
of what our students have to say.
My very best wishes for a successful, exciting career
in medicine.
Robert N. Golden, MD
