Faculty
University of Wisconsin School of Medicine
and Public Health faculty combine the talents of researchers,
educators and care givers. More than 1,200 physicians and scientists—most
of whom care for patients in addition to teaching—train
students in both medical and post-graduate programs.

The faculty includes National Medal
of Science recipients, National Academy of Sciences honorees,
internationally recognized researchers and clinicians, and physicians
dedicated to improving the delivery of primary care medicine.
Their teaching integrates basic knowledge and clinical
applications in a curriculum that fosters problem solving and
establishes a pattern of life-long learning. Students—as
well as patients—profit from the close collaboration between
basic scientists and clinical practitioners who work together
to bring laboratory advancements to hospital care.
UW School of Medicine and Public Health is a statewide
medical school, as well as a resource to the nation and the world.
UW researchers have changed our lives and improved our health,
from the discovery of vitamin D to pioneering techniques for improving
the viability of organs used for transplants.
