Hospice Volunteer Opportunities
1. In-home/facility/patient volunteers: Serve patients and families living in their own homes or apartments, or in residential, assisted living or long-term care facilities. In-home volunteers provide respite for caregivers and offer comfort and companionship to patients. They also assist with the routines of daily life such as shopping, running errands, meal preparation and light housekeeping.
2. Inpatient unit volunteers (Dane County only): Days and evenings at the Don & Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center and the Ellen & Peter Johnson HospiceCare Residence. They also assist clinical staff with a variety of tasks such as delivering meals and beverages, feeding patients and stocking supplies.
3. Grief services volunteers: Work with HospiceCare staff to help family members cope with the emotions and changes that accompany loss by providing support and information, and assisting with grief groups and memorial events.
4. Visiting pet volunteers: Brighten patient's and family’s days when they make visits with their dogs. All dogs must be certified therapy dogs through either the Delta Society or Therapy Dogs International.
5. Integrated therapy volunteers: Share skills in massage, reiki, aromatherapy, cranial sacral or other modalities to increase our patients' quality of life. Volunteers must be certified and/or licensed in their area according to the accreditation process of their modality.
