Indemnification
When participating in any of the programs offered by the Office of Community Service Programs at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, students must be aware of the following conditions:
I. If, in performing the activity at issue, the student is considered an “agent” of the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, UW-Madison will provide liability coverage consistent with section 895.46(1) of the Wisconsin Statues for any liability incurred while participating in the program or activity.
II. If, in performing the activity at issue, the student is not considered an “agent” of the UW School of Medicine and Public Health, participation is completely voluntary and the University of Wisconsin-Madison will not provide liability coverage for any liability incurred while participating in the program or activity.
III. The UW School of Medicine and Public Health does not provide blanket medical coverage to students and it is strongly encouraged that students carry health insurance that provides comprehensive medical care, including coverage for emergencies.
IV. Participating students must agree to:

a. Hold harmless the UW School of Medicine and Public Health, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the Board of Regents of the University of Wisconsin System, their officers, employees and agents, from all liability for personal injury or damages suffered as a result of participation. This includes but is not limited to damages that result from loss of personal property (including money), sickness, injury, legal entanglements, imprisonment and death while participating in this program or activity. This does not include any damages that a student may suffer as a result of the negligence of the UW School of Medicine and Public Health, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the Board of Regents of the University of Wisconsin System, their officers, employees or agents.
V. Students who are participating in activities as “agents” of the UW School of Medicine and Public Health must agree to:

a. Conform to all applicable policies, rules, regulations and standards of conduct as established by the university and by the organizations participating in this program or activity.
b. Follow a reasonable standard of behavior at all times, and work to insure the best interest, harmony, comfort and welfare of the program and its participants.
c. Consistently operate using appropriate standards of care.
d. Conduct themselves at all times in a manner which positively reflects upon the University, as well as upon the organization with whom the student is working.
