We strive to develop partnerships that embody the Wisconsin Idea, connecting the resources of the university to the citizenry of Wisconsin, advance the public good and provide meaningful opportunities for our students.
In developing partnerships, we incorporate best practices identified by Community Campus Partnerships for Health.
Partnerships require time, attention, energy and resources, all of which are returned through a myriad of benefits to both the community and campus partners. Some of the potential benefits experienced by community partners include:
- An increased pool of volunteers
- Access to human and physical resources of the campus
- New funding opportunities
- Role models for precollegiate youth about the prospects of attending college and medical school
- Assistance with program evaluation and assessment
- Additional expertise and resources for community development
- Opportunity to educate medical students about community issues and to work collaboratively to address those issues
