Canopy Center Volunteer Opportunities

1. Respite Center: The Respite Center offers a variety of opportunities for community involvement and support in the areas of childcare, KidKare Shoppers, gardening, maintenance/special projects and the board of directors. The Canopy Center provides free training for all volunteer positions.

2. Parental Stressline is a 24-hour stressline for parents to call when they need to talk, or need referrals to other agencies. Often this is the first experience people have talking to another person about their parenting concerns. Volunteers hook up to the stressline from home, and can always call the Volunteer Coordinator, or the Stressline Coordinator if they receive a call that is disturbing. Free training for all volunteer positions. Please contact the volunteer coordinator with any questions at (608) 241-4888, ext. 13.

3. Support group co-facilitator at the Canopy Center: The Parental Stress Center provides support groups for families who are at a higher risk of abusing their children, or who just feel like they need some extra help coping with parenthood. There are support groups for all members of the family: children, teens, and adults. Most of the support groups are held on Mondays or Wednesdays from 6 to 9pm. Free training for all volunteer positions.
