Overarching Course Goals for Foundations of Medicine 4
- Describe the mechanisms and pathologic features of various forms of chemical and physical injury
- Recognize the toxicological effects of some common poisons and determine the appropriate pharmacological treatments
- Explain the spectrum of pathologic processes that can alter normal human embryonic, fetal and early childhood development
- List factors affecting drug metabolism including genetics, age, disease and drug interactions
- Describe the major types of drug interactions
- Compare and contrast clinical laboratory services with respect to therapeutic drug monitoring and drugs of abuse testing
- Explain the pharmacology and potential medical uses of plant materials
