Welcome to the fourth-year preceptorship - truly the capstone of your medical school career. Beaver Dam has a long tradition of teaching medical students in a setting you will find student-friendly and conveniently located within one hour driving distance from the UW-Madison campus.

You will have an opportunity to put your knowledge into practice — evidence-based practices — as well as learning about billing, uninsured patients, and glimpse into the way of life at a rural hospital. In addition, you'll learn how rural physicians communicate with tertiary care centers.

About the Preceptors
Sharon Haase, MD is the head preceptor at the Beaver Dam site with a busy, comprehensive internal medicine practice. She has a wealth of clinical knowledge and has taught medical students for several years, with five of her previous medical students having returned to the Beaver Dam area to practice medicine.
Dr. Haase was the first woman to hold a preceptor role with the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health and she is currently serving as Governor of the American College of Physicians for the State of Wisconsin.
Amy Muchow, MD, one of Dr. Haase's partners, is the co-preceptor. She was a former student of Dr. Haase's completing a preceptorship in 2002. Dr. Muchow's expertise is in general and consulting internal medicine, and is Medical Director for Hillside Hospice, as well as two nursing homes in the area.
