Welcome Message from John Almquist, MD, FHM

At Stevens Point, you will be able to manage a broad spectrum of internal medicine patients under the supervision of hospitalist within the Ministry Medical Group. I encourage you to be the first person to see your patients when they are admitted and thereafter on daily rounds.

You should be able to develop a differential diagnosis, work-up and treatment plan for these patients. Upon discharge, you will communicate with the patient's primary care physician. There will be enough time to research patient's problems and interact with ancillary services.

Through this preceptorship, you will gain valuable experience that you will draw upon as an intern. Once you have completed three to four weeks on the hospitalist service there are elective rotations available. Emergency room experience is also available if you desire.

In your free time, you will be able to enjoy many outdoor activities available at this location. You will also be able to see how local physicians balance work and personal lives.
