Overarching Course Goals for Foundations of Medicine 3
- Understand the basic principles of medical virology and parasitology and the clinical features and pathogenesis of the syndromes presented as well as prevention and public health issues
- Appreciate the impact of certain diseases and conditions on local and global health, including sexually transmitted infections and HIV, bioterrorism and emergency preparedness, and emerging diseases
- Begin to understand how to recognize, diagnose, treat and prevent infectious diseases as well as appreciate the supportive role of the clinical laboratory
