During the third or fourth year of the MD Program curriculum, medical students at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in Madison will complete an internal medicine rotation with the Department of Medicine.
We are looking forward to our opportunity to facilitate your learning for the next eight weeks. The primary focus of our clerkship is to increase your capacity to function as a caring, increasingly independent but supervised clinician on an interdisciplinary inpatient internal medicine team.
Our clerkship is designed to provide opportunities for further developing your fundamental skills of history taking, physical exam, integrative thinking as well as written and oral communication. You will expand your knowledge through hearing patient stories, working with residents and faculty and self-directed reading.
Through focusing your learning around patients and playing an important role in their care we feel confident that you will retain this knowledge and these skills for the years to come.
We realize that our time together is short and we will only be able to provide a glimpse of what internal medicine has to offer as a career. We encourage you to ask each resident, fellow and faculty that you work with more about what they do each day so that you may gain greater insight into all the opportunities within the vast field of internal medicine.
Our wish is that you find the next eight weeks both challenging and rewarding. All of us are committed to facilitating a high quality experience so feel free to contact us!
