medical studentsDuring the third year of the MD Program curriculum, medical students at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in Madison will complete a rotation with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Our clerkship is designed to provide the clinical experiences and didactics to familiarize you with the core competencies of obstetrical and gynecologic care. Obstetrics and gynecology is a dynamic specialty that that blends elements of surgery, medicine, and primary preventive care into a single practice.

A physician specializing in obstetrics and gynecology is often considered a woman's primary care provider. So the principles of women's health care that you learn on this rotation will enhance your future practice regardless of your medical specialty.

This clerkship is offered at several sites across the state — Eau Claire, Green Bay, Madison, Marshfield, and Milwaukee — which gives students the opportunity to experience women's healthcare in a variety of clinical settings ranging from urban to small town.

To ensure that you are prepared to pass the National Board shelf examination at the end of the rotation, the clerkship didactics follow the educational objectives developed by The Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics.

We look forward to your active participation in our educational program and we hope that your experiences in the clerkship prove to be meaningful and rewarding.
