This seminar introduces the Entrepreneur's Resource Clinic (ERC) space in the Town Center of the Wisconsin Institutes of Discovery. The talk will also describe the various resources available through the Clinic and its partners to assist those exploring the potential for starting a new business whether they be faculty, staff, students, alumni or members of the greater Madison community.
Topics include:
- A snapshot of the role UW-Madison startups have played in the Madison area
- Considerations in forming a company
- University policy on outside activities and conflict of interest as they relate to startup participation
- defining product features
- Identifying customers and markets
- Assembling the people and resources needed to build a business.
- Where to find help on campus and in the Madison area
For companies based on Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF) technologies, discussion will include an introduction to invention disclosures, standstill agreements, licensee obligations, WARF equity agreements and IP resources available beyond campus.
The ERC is a joint effort of the Office of Corporate Relations, WARF, the School of Business, the Law School and the Wisconsin Entrepreneurs Network.
