Facilities Department

The facilities group at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in Madison is responsible for planning and implementing the growth in medical school facilities.

 

The staff manages the existing School of Medicine and Public Health program facilities across campus and their related transportation options.

The facilities group is also responsible for ongoing operations and safety procedures for UW School of Medicine and Public Health facilities. The staff is a liaison with department chairs, center directors, administrators and campus officials.

 

The facilities department's areas of responsibility are:

  • Strategic planning: Mark Wells, AIA
  • Capital construction: David Gaarder, AIA
  • Remodeling: David Gaarder, AIA
  • Space management and Health Sciences Learning Center furniture: Jennifer Quale, IIDA
  • Maintenance: John Mulcahey, PE
  • Operations: John Mulcahey, PE
  • Leased space: Jennifer Quale, IIDA
  • Transportation: Jimmy Kruyne
  • Parking: Jimmy Kruyne

Mark Wells, the assistant dean for facilities, serves as a member of the Dean's Leadership Team and is a primary resource for the dean and associate deans on space-related issues.
