Medical Education Day

The University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health will hold the 20th Annual Medical Education Day combined with the Clerkship Educational Retreat on Friday, March 9 2012. The combined event will be held at the Health Sciences Learning Center in Madison.

Elizabeth Petty, MDThis year's keynote address will be presented by Elizabeth Petty, MD, Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Professor of Pediatrics at the UW School of Medicine and Public Health. The title of Dr. Petty's presentation is "Navigating the Changing Landscape of Medical Education: A Cause for Creative Cartography."

 

The event promises to be a full-day learning and networking opportunity for the busy faculty and staff educators who teach medical students at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in Madison, and across the state of Wisconsin. Sessions will focus on enhancing medical education and celebrate outstanding achievements in teaching.

 

This event is free and open to all UW School of Medicine and Public Health faculty and staff.

 

Program Goals

 

The combined Medical Education Day and Clerkship Educational Retreat aims to:

  • Share current and planned medical education initiatives, programs and innovations
  • Provide professional development workshop sessions related to teaching and learning best practices
  • Recognize outstanding teaching
  • Offer network opportunities for colleagues who teach at the UW School of Medicine and Public Health in Madison and across the state of Wisconsin
  • Provide an opportunity for clerkship curricular development and strategic planning

Dean's Teaching Awards

 

Medical Education Day

Recipients of the 2011-12 Dean's Teaching Awards were honored at Medical Education Day. These peer-selected awards were established to honor outstanding contributions in student education in medical school programs.

Poster Session Submissions

 

All faculty and staff are invited to submit posters that highlight medical education research and activities. Posters will be on display in the HSLC atrium.

 

If you are interested in submitting a poster, please send Maureen Gerarden (mgerarden@wisc.edu) your poster title by Friday, February 24.
