Organization
Admissions Committee
This committee screens and makes decisions on applicants to the METC program. The most active period is January-April. Current committee members include: Chris Bradfield, Director, Bill Hickey, Associate Director, Ralph Albrecht (2008), Chuck Kaspar (2007), Jeff Johnson (2007), Teri Balser (2008), and METC graduate student Travis Schmit.
Graduate Achievement and Curriculum Committee (GACC)
Oversees activities of the METC relating to curriculum development and revision, and monitors the progress of each student. They are a guiding committee for graduate students in the area of certification, progress, approval of each students research advisory and exam committees. GACC meets regularly three times per year in August/September, January, and May/June. The Chair has the power to make the following types of decisions between GACC meetings: waivers, changes in committee, last minute substitution of courses, and/or any change in certification. Current committee members include: Chris Bradfield, Director, Bill Hickey, Associate Director, Mark Cook, Chair (2008), Bill Karasov (2008), Eric Sandgren (2008), Warren Heideman (2009), Nancy Keller (2006), Nader Sheibani (2007) and METC gradaute student representatives Vatsal Mehta (2009) and Elyse Bolterstein (2008).
Preliminary Examination Committee
This committee prepares and oversees the administration of the preliminary exams. The committee is broken into two sub-committees, a health sub-committee and an environmental sub-committee. Current committee members include: Chris Bradfield, Director, Bill Hickey, Associate Director, Burt Olson (2007), Chuck Kaspar (2007), Adnan Elfarra (2009), Joel Pedersen (2009), Vacant (2008), and METC Graduate student Joe Dever and Ned Rubert.
Steering Committee
This committee provides the oversight to the Molecular and Environmental Toxicology graduate program. They are responsible for policy development and revision in all matters affecting the program as a whole. This committee must approve any additions/deletions/changes to the graduate faculty affiliated with the program and any additions/deletions/changes in any courses. Current committee members include: Chris Bradfield, Director, Bill Hickey, Associate Director, Lynn Allen-Hoffmann, Deputy PI NIEHS Training Grant, Ralph Albrecht (2009), Will Bleam (2007), Dick Peterson (2009), Eric Sandgren (2009), Bill Sonzogni (2008), Rick Eisenstein (2008), and METC Student Liaison Committee President Rachel Novick (2008).
Student Liaison Committee
This committee is made up of METC graduate students and is charged with representing all of the METC and briing concern to METC directors and the Administrator. Individual members of this committee will also serve on some of the other committees identified in this section. SLC members are also liaisons to incoming students and help in ourtreach activities. Current members for 2007-08 academic year include: Rachel Novick, President; Vatsal Mehta & Elyse Bolterstein GACC; Paige Wiecinski & Josh Desotelle, New Student Representatives; Travis Schmit, Admissions Committee; Joe Dever and Keelia Rhoads, Seminar Commitee.
Training Grant Committee
This committee is responsible for selecting trainees, monitoring the progress of trainees, recommending changes in trainers, and instituting changes in the practices of the training program. Current committee members include: Adnan Elfarra, PI and Lynn Allen-Hoffmann, Deputy PI on the NIEHS Pre-Post-Doctoral Training Grant, David Jarrard (2008), Colin Jefcoate (2010), Richard Peterson (2009) and Lauren Trepanier (2010)
