As of Spring 2008: Senior Principal Scientist, Pfizer; Pharmacokinetics, Dynamics & Metabolism Dept
Bio: I completed my undergraduate work at the University of Minnesota -
Twin Cities in 1990, with a degree in biology. After a couple
interesting employment experiences, including working as a fisheries
observer on Alaskan fishing vessels, I decided to pursue a career in
research. I joined the Environmental Toxicology Center in 1993. After a
semester of lab rotations, I chose to pursue my PhD degree under the
guidance of Adnan Elfarra. I learned a tremendous amount about research
during my time in Adnan's lab, though my fondest memories involve the
numerous talented scientists with which I had the pleasure to work and
learn from - Renee, Rebecca, Tom, Ray, Anna Rita...and more. After
graduating from the ETC in 1998, I pursued a post-doc under the guidance of Russ Prough in the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Louisville. In Russ' lab, I further developed my interests in drug metabolism. After three and a half years at the UofL, I joined Pfizer as a research scientist in the Pharmacokinetics, Dynamics & Metabolism department, where I have been since 2002. I thoroughly enjoy being able to apply all the learnings from the ETC and from my postdoctoral research to discovering and developing new medicines.
