Thesis: IKK-a: A Critical Intermediate Between P63 Isoforms that Maintain the Normal Renewal of Epidermal Keratinocytes Through Activation of Vitamin D Regulated Differentiation Pathways
As of July 2008: Manager of Environmental and Chemical Compliance; Illinois Tool Works, Inc (ITW)
Graduate Experience: As an older graduate student, I found the rigors of the METC program to be a very stimulating experience. The professors and facilities were exceptional. The education and experience gained in the program are very useful in contaminated site risk assessment and evaluation of chemical product safety issues
Graduate Work: My thesis inolved the role of inhibitor of kappa B kinase alpha (IKK-alpha), vitamin D, and the transcription factor p63 in skin renewal. I postulated that IKK-alpha is a critical intermediate between p63 isoforms that maintain the normal renewal of epidermal keratinocytes through activation of vitamin D regulated differentiation pathways.
