Game 1 - WON 11-3
05/04/07 - Against Double M's - The Molecular and Environmental Toxicology LD50's started their season with an 11-3 win. Was a late game that was to begin at 9:00, but other games ran late so they took to the field around 9:45 p.m. We were the visiting team so we were 1st at bat.
Travis started the game off with a double, followed by Brittney with a single, then Josh cracked a double, Elyse follwed with single. Jordan comes to the plate and takes a walk followed up by a single by Rob. We had 4 runs by bottom of the 1st. YEAH
In second inning we came back with base hits by Kevin, Rachel, and Craig for 2 more runs. I think the fan base of NINE may have done "the wave" at this point!
Our 3rd at bat started with a hit to deep left by Travis for a triple. But this was the only highlight of that inning. The 4th was not very eventful either.
The 5th was good for another run. We had base hits by Kevin, Eva, and Craig. Eric got on base but fielders choice they picked off Eva @ 2nd.
Now we come to the top of the 6th - this was a rather entertaining inning! Rohinton started us off with a single and as he flew across 1st base - the ball smacked him right up side the forehead - OUCH. But he sucked it up and with the crack of Travis' bat (for a triple) Rohinton tore down the baseline, around second and around third and Jordan (3rd base coach) is saying "Stop, Rohinton, you need to touch the bags" - - - well that was a minor detail we forgot to stress in practice! But we carried on and Brittney hit a single to bring Travis in and then Jordan's hit brought in Brittney. We are now up 9-2. Rohinton sat on the bench and iced his "goose egg".
In the 7th, Pat & Kevin took walks and Eva, Eric, and Rachel all had base hits. We scored 2 more runs and now we are up 11-2.
Amy was our pitcher and she gave up 7 hits, 3 runs, she struck out 3 and walked 2 and left them with 6 on base. NICE JOB!
Our team got 19 hits off the Double M pitcher, we had 11 runs, only 2 of us struck out and 4 took the walk, we had 11 left on base!
It was a GREAT opener and we hope to increase our fan base.
