Game 10 - WIN

HUGE WIN - WE RULED THE FIELD!

Well another Friday and at 8:00 p.m. we had a game against the Bowl-A-Vard Gutterballs. They beat us 7-3 in the first round of play and we were going to do our best to clean house this time.

We were a wee bit worried as Craig and Rob were going to be out of town as they were in a wedding of a friend; and Josh was also out of town for God only knows what reason. So right off the bat (no pun intended) we were down three guys, then found out Rohinton was not going to make it so we were beginning to sweat this.

We look up and here comes a familar face - Look! That Guy on the Left Yeah that guy! - could he pass as a player? Well we know he is a "player", but if we put a glove on his hand could he be a ball player? He had a side kick with him carrying in the goods. So between our fan Chris and Katie's boyfriend Jake - could we get one of them to stand behind the plate to fill a void. Both swore up and down there was no way they'd do that - neither were ball players. COME ON GUYS all you need to do is stand there, breathe, and throw the ball back to Amy, and if there is a play at home just run away and drop & curl into fetal position until they tell you it is okay. Amy, Jordan or SOMEBODY will cover the plate. PLEEEEZE - finally Jake said he'd take up the space if he absolutely had too. So we were set - - -

Our players took the field - we ruled that field - we were smacking balls and making those plays like nobodys business. OH WAIT - we are playing ourselves. The other team did not show up! WE WIN - how cool is that!

So all the while we were "stressing" over the lack of male presence on our team - - - here the other team obviously canceled their game but never bothered to call Elyse or even tell the league as the ump was asking us where the other team was.

We got some practice in - Katie got the opportunity to take a swing at the "slow pitch". This was good as she is playing with the Fallball Team (even though she has never played slowpitch - she has played fastpitch for 12 years) So she took her place at the plate and took her 1st swing at a high arched s-l-o-w pitched ball. I think we were all pleasantly surprised she could make the contact and was not taking five swings before the ball got there.

Big Thanks to Ameesha Shetty (right) for coming out to enjoy the game (that didn't happen)
And as always, thanks to our faithful fan Paige (left) who only missed one game (and what was that excuse again? You can't be serious! You were doing WHAT?)

And thanks to Chris Frazee (left) for his support and beverages

As well as Katie Bartels (right) & her boyfriend Jake White Eagle (no I didn't cut Jake out - that is Frazee cut off)
- - - and Brittney's sweet finance (left) who came out anyway even knowing there was no game as he knows we always have fun and where else can you get such cheap entertainment!
And last, but certainly not least. To the left - Our Little Man, Team Mascot Mason Schmit. See "his story" from last weeks game.

Hope to see everyone at 9:00 p.m. this Friday night, July 20th @ Olbrich Park, Diamond #3 for the last game of the season! This is the "make-up" for the game that was rained out in round 1 of play.
