Game 7 - WON 10-6
The 2-3 LD50's Blast the 4-1 Glass Nickel Middle Agers!
Jordan? Jordan? Does anybody know where Jordan is? Brittney finally gets ahold of him. "Jordan where are you?" "What?" "North Dakota?" "Oh, so you are not playing tonight?" Elyse, better change the line up and fielding positions!
Well there was excitement BEFORE the game even started. The silence was broken with people running and yelling . . . pretty soon a man is tackled on the cement and two guys plus a woman pile on top of him. Somebody is yelling "call the police", tackled guy is yelling, "I didn't do nothing man" "Let me up I won't run" "I can't breathe" . . .then a 2nd woman came up and nicely plants her foot onto the tackled guys hand. One squad arrives, two squads arrive, oh wait here comes a third squad!
Well come to find out (via Kelly our reporter who beat down the story) a woman was putting her baby in her car to find a man in the car. Of course his words were "I wouldn't have taken anything from the car if I realized IT WAS YOUR (his friends) CAR!" - - - Friends like that ya really don't need any enemies! I'm sure he is a very nice person though . . . I mean after all if he'd of known it was his friends car he wouldn't have done it! Gotta love the people who provide such cheap entertainment to us.
First Inning
The Middle Agers came to the plate and went down in order. Craig caught the 1st hit to center, Rob nabbed the 2nd hit and threw her out a 1st - then Kevin caught the 3rd hit at 3rd.
Before the game started the LD50's did their "GO TEAM" circle. Rob started us off with a hit to right, followed by Elyse's infield hit then Travis cranked a double to bring Rob in. They got Brittney out but Craig came up and smacked a triple bringing in Elyse and Travis. Amy comes up and hits a single, Kevin hits a double to bring Craig in, Eva got out and Josh hit down the 3rd base line and due to a fielding error he got on base and brought a run in. Kelly flew to 3rd for the last out. We batted thru the line up and we are up 5-0.
Second Inning
They started off hitting 2 singles - their 3rd batter hit to 2nd and Josh grabbed it for the 1st out and threw the runner out at 2nd for a double play. Their next batter hit back to Amy who tossed to Travis @ 1st for 3rd out.
We started our 2nd off with Rob hitting to right again. Elyse sacrificed her hit to advance Rob to 2nd. Travis hit a double to bring Rob in then Brittney hit a nice fly to left and Travis was on his horse and scored from 2nd. Craig flew out, Amy got on due to field error and Kevin almost made it to base on an error, but their throw just beat him. We are now up 7-0.
Third Inning
Rob threw their 1st batter out at 1st. But their 2nd batter hit a triple and 3rd batter had a single to bring in a run. Had she been happy with the single she would have been safe, but tried to get to 2nd and Craig threw in to Josh to get her out. Their next batter had a single and the last batter hit into a fielder choice for 3rd out.
Our 3rd was rather uneventual. Josh and Rob both hit singles but no runs were scored.
Fourth & Fifth Innings
It would be boring to say that the Middle Agers had 3 batters up and 3 batters out - but that is what happened. But there is a story behind it. Travis was on fire in the infield. Their 1st batter hit a line drive past 3rd to get on. Their 2nd batter hit towards 1st base. Travis grabs the ball runs down the base runner to tag him out then hoofs it back to 1st to get the batter out before they got to 1st. Made Robs catch at short for the 3rd out rather "ho hum". But their 5th inning they did have 3 batters come to the plate and go down in order.
Well our 4th inning was a three up and three down. But we came up in the 5th and Amy cracked a double to right center to get us going. Kevin flew out and Pat sacrificed her hit to advance the runner. Josh came up and hit a single to bring Amy in and Rachel followed with another single as did Rob who brought Josh in. We are now up 9-1
Sixth Inning
They started out with a single, then a double and another single and a run has scored and 2 runners on 2nd and 3rd. Their fourth batter comes to the plate and hits it hard between short and 2nd base. Rob put on his "Tigger" springs and he flew through the air and snagged that ball. Nobody was more surprised than Rob - (Hey, I thought they said white men can't jump!) That was one AWESOME play. Everyone was excited after that play and then I'm not sure what happened. The next batter hit, the ball was over thrown by at least 4 of our players, Travis who was playing 1st was now over by the 3rd base to stop the runner and threw the ball back to 1st to "nobody" (except the Middle Agers base runner and 1st base coach). It was a rather confusing inning and we had way too many errors to count, but everyone had their fair share of OOP's. We finally settled down and Craig caught a fly to right center then Amy struck out the last batter. They had 3 runs score that inning.
Travis started us out with a hit to center followed by a hit by Brittney. Craig had a sacrifice fly to right center to bring Travis in. Amy had a hit then we got the last 2 outs. We are still up 10-4.
Seventh Inning
Well they started off with a double hit to center then followed up by an in the park home run! OUCH 2 batters and 2 runs. Score is 10-6 and no outs. Next batter hit a base hit, then comes a ball hit hard to deep right. The ball hit Pat's glove so hard that it popped right back out and over her head . . . but OMG there is Craig right behind her and he gets to the ball before it hits the ground. Batter is OUT! Pat claims it was all planned to add just a little more drama to our game! Rob finishes the game off by throwing out the last batter at 1st. WHEW no need for us to come to the plate as we are last at bat and we have enough runs! Game is OVER and we win 10-6!!!
 POST GAME SHOW
Well we headed to the parking lot where we hung out past midnight to go over the game high lights, solve world issues, and create policy. It was a cool evening but Craig takes a bet and jumps off the pier into the water. YUP it was cold but it was worth the bet!
Next Game
Craig would like to invite you all to next weeks game - I mean after all, it is at Warner Park - right next to Lake Mendota. Water may be a little warmer than it was around midnight last week. Who knows what bet may be on the table!
We play at 6:00 p.m. on Diamond 2 at Warner Park (2930 N Sherman Ave) against the Double M's (we beat them 11-3 the 1st night out and hope for a repeat performance). So Friday, June 29th meet us at Warner Park.
