Game 9 - Lost Alot to A Little

Bad Day On the Ball Field - Told By Team Mascot Mason
Yeah - Dad prepared me for this game. We knew it was going to be tough. He prepped me and gave me all the signs we HAD to win this game. But we all knew it was a team playing out of their league - we had to be prepared as they can place the ball where they want on that field.

Dad told me - "Son, we all want this win. We can't let our nerves get the best of us on the field. We need to focus! Tell me son, as team mascot YOU will keep us focused"

I knew I had a big job ahead of me keeping this group in line. But I was the Little Man and I was gonna do my best!

So Dad handed me off to my girl Katie. There was concern on my part, and a look of worry in my eyes. But Katie assured me it was all going to be alright. So I sucked down that Pepsi and drooled my backwash down her straw, but what she doesn't know won't hurt her.

First inning their first seven batters scored six runs! But we helped them along with 3 fielding errors, so they can't have all the credit. Second inning they had six more runs with seven batters (same six people scored!), but this time we only had one error so guess we have to give them a little more credit this round.

This was not looking good at all.

So I went over to discuss the situation with the Big Dog, My Man Chris. We discussed strategy over a few drinks.

Note Big Dog had a few more than me! >>>>

Well in our 2nd inning Dad (aka Travis) got on and Kevin brought him in. Then in the 3rd Pat, Rob, Elyse, Mom (aka Kelly) got on with hits then Dad cranked a home run to bring Elyse and Mom in. I do believe Dad was giving Mom positive encouragement as he was ready to run her over heading home.

But now we have 6 runs, only problem is they have 14 - we have alot of work to do.

By the 4th inning we finally settled down on the defense and played some decent ball. But the damage was already done. My team was just to nervous early on and it costs us the game.

As 1st year team mascot - I know we could have taken this team. But we bit the big one and even with Craig or Eric's hit (sorry guys, that lady who keeps the score book didn't do a very good job and I'm not sure who played the 5th inning and got that hit) - but my Dad brought them in for the run.

So I went back with my Katie lady and put some more spit in her soda. She totally agrees with me that the pay for my job really sucks and the least this team could do is provide me with a "team shirt"! I think I'll talk with the owners and the union and write that into my contract for fall!

Next Game Is Friday, July 13th @ 8:00 p.m. at Olbrich #3. Hope to see you all there - even if you don't care for the game, I need you all to sign my petition for Mascot Team Shirt!
