Research Statement
I wish to better understand the importance of host physiological status as a way of predicting the emergence of zoonotic disease outbreaks. This work includes investigating the role of environmental contaminants on the immunocompetence of wild-ranging avian disease hosts.
Research as of May 2007
Thesis Title - The influence of habitat disturbance and synergized resmethrin on avian immunocompetence.
Thesis Chapter 1 - Fecal measures of adrenocortical activity in greater sage grouse (Centrocercus urophasianus)
Thesis Chapter 2 - Augmented adrenal activity in greater sage grouse (Centrocercus urophasianus) resident in cattle-grazed habitats depends on breeding status.
Thesis Chapter 3 - The impact of synergized resmethrin and corticosterone on avian immunity to West Nile virus.
Interests/Hobbies
Outdoor pursuits such as rock climbing, whitewater kayaking, backpacking and mountain biking. Reading. Not enough banjo playing!
