Why I Joined METC

Research
The overall goal of my research is to understand at the molecular level how activation of the Aryl Hydrocarbon Receptor (AHR) by compounds such as TCDD leads to heart malformation and failure in developing zebrafish.
  • Aim 1 - Test the hypothesis that TCDD causes cardiotoxicity throught AHR activation of target genes in the heart.
  • Aim 2 - Test the hypothesis that TCDD halts cell division in the developing heart.
  • Aim 3 - Test hypotheses explaining the mechanism by which activation of AHR in the embryonic heart and embryonic jaw.
