Health Insurance
Research Assistants and trainees are eligible for health insurance at no or minimal cost. Applications for insurance coverage must be completed within 30 days of your begin date or you waive some of the medical insurance plan options. Information will be on the available plans, rates, and has the necessary forms.
Each year in October there is an open-enrollment period during which you may change your health insurance plan (for the next calendar year). This is the ONLY time you may change your plan, however you can change primary care physician within the plan at any time.
Information on other insurance benefits available to you will be provided, such as major medical, dental, etc. Please note that if you marry or have a child and wish to switch from a single coverage plan to a family coverage plan, you must make this change within a specified time period.
