Curriculum Requirements
General Degree Information
The Molecular and Environmental Toxicology Center offers both a PhD and Masters Degree, as well as a minor. A master's degree is not required for students continuing to the Ph.D. degree. In this program, graduate students become familiar with the concepts and basic problems of molecular and environmental toxicology through enrollment in a core curriculum and participation in seminar and special topics courses. Courses are designed to provide a framework for asking appropriate toxicological questions as well as introduce experimental methods and information sources useful in addressing these questions. Through their thesis research projects, students learn to seek the mechanisms relating to the origin and fate of chemicals in the environment and underlying the phenomenological changes induced by toxicants in humans, animals and plants.
Degree Requirements PhD - Masters - Minor
Courses are drawn from the School of Medicine and Public Health, Veterinary Medicine, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Students have considerable flexibility in course work.
The Graduate School requires that a minimum number of UW-Madison graduate-level credits (i.e., >300 level, including research credits) be completed in order to be considered for a UW-Madison degree. Work done at another institution may be eligible to fulfill this requirement. You must discuss this with the program director during orientation week.
In all matters not specifically covered in this outline, the general regulations of the Graduate School apply.
If you have questions regarding any of the requirements, please contact
Eileen Stevens.
