Welcome Dinner - Engineering Hall
Late afternoon we went to Engineering Hall where we picked up our bus passes and mingled with approximately 100 other undergraduates participating in the Summer Reserach Opportunities Program here at UW-Madison. We were treated to a Mexican Buffet and the Babcock Ice Cream Bar which we enjoyed very much!
When we finished eating, Dorothy Sanchez, Graduate School Assistant Dean started the evening with a welcome and introduction. The guest speaker for the evening was the Senior Associate Dean for the Graduate School, Dr. Judith Kornblatt. Afterwards we watched a short power point presentation put together by Maya Holtzman, Student Services Coordinator with the Office of Diversity Resources. This showed us some highlights of campus; life at UW-Madison and information on lasts years and this years summer program. We wrapped our evening up with a guided tour of campus and then enjoyed a little R&R at Memorial Union.

First Orientation - Union South
Our first morning on UW-Madison campus, we went to Union South to have our photo ID's taken and had an orientation with Dr. Charles Czuprynski. We received our summer schedule, learned what our expectations were, had the opportunity ask questions, and then we were taken to our individuals labs to meet our advisors/mentors and lab mates.
