Kiedrowski
Title of Summer Research
Abstract
 Lesli Kiedrowski
Hails from Sheboygan Falls, WI
In Fall 2007 will be a Junior at UW-Madison in Genetics
Lesli has a wide variety of interests in genetics and interested in studying the genetics behink diabetes or alcholism and a relationship with the high occurrence of these diseases in Native populations. She is also very intersted in developmental genetics and wants to specialize in prenatal counseling.
While not technically part of the UW-Madison Summer Research Opportunity Program, Lesli was given the option of taking part in the events our SROP students were given.
Reason I chose to participate in the activities of the summer research program along with the UW-Madison Molecular and Environmental Toxicology Summer Research Program students is to take advantage of the weekly tutorial session given by various professionals; and to gain hands-on research experience in the lab to better understand techniques used in genetics and also to explore that area of my field as a future career possibility. The tutorials may be useful for techniques that are important but that might not necessarily be involved in my current project. I hope to get advice and tips for applying to grad school, and I would also have a lot of help and support writing proposals and papers, and giving research presentations.
Funding
Participating in the Molecular and Environmental Toxicology Summer Research Opportunity Program through the funding of the
Great lakes Native American Research Center for Health.
