Carnes Presents Research at Conference on Gender Equality in Science

Molly Carnes, MD, MS, Professor in the Department of Medicine, represented the United States at an international conference on "Practicing Gender Equality in Science," sponsored by the Italian Department of Equal Opportunity on November 3-4, 2009, in Rome, Italy.

Dr. Carnes joined four others from the United States, including Virginia Valian, author of the book, "Why So Slow?" and presenters from nine other countries to discuss effective strategies for increasing the participation and advancement of women in medicine, science and engineering.

Dr. Carnes, director of the UW Center for Women's Health Research, presented research she and her collaborators have conducted through the Women in Science and Engineering Leadership Institute (WISELI) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
