Partnership Seeking Nominations for Oversight and Advisory Committee Member

The Wisconsin Partnership Program is seeking nominations to replace a public member vacancy on the UW School of Medicine and Public Health Oversight and Advisory Committee (OAC) in the categories of advocates representing an urban or minority community, women, or senior citizens. The OAC is committed to ensuring a diverse pool of applicants for the public member position.
The goal of the OAC is to advance population health in Wisconsin by executing its stewardship responsibility in partnership with the School of Medicine and Public Health, and in accordance with the Insurance Commissioner's Order and the five-year plan. The funding for this program resulted from the conversion of Blue Cross and Blue Shield United of Wisconsin to a for-profit entity. Learn more at the Wisconsin Partnership Program Web site.
The OAC is the primary decision-making body for governing and establishing funding for public health initiatives. The OAC also advises and comments on medical education and research initiatives within the program.
Only Wisconsin-based organizations that have operated for at least five years, are widely recognized as non-profit or governmental advocates that are independent of influence by Blue Cross Blue Shield United of Wisconsin, affiliates of Blue Cross Blue Shield United of Wisconsin, the School of Medicine and Public Health and Medical College of Wisconsin, may make nominations. Individuals may not nominate themselves.
OAC members are expected to participate in monthly meetings typically held in Madison and to participate on subcommittees of the board as needed. OAC members receive no remuneration; however, expenses associated with attending meetings for travel and accommodations are reimbursed.
Nominations are due on December 15, 2009. Organizations interested in nominating an individual should send a letter of support describing the nominees' qualifications and interests along with their resume to the Director of The Wisconsin Partnership Program at the following address:
