Madison, Wisconsin - A groundbreaking ceremony for construction of the new UW Health reproductive endocrinology and infertility (REI) clinic is scheduled for 7am Monday in Middleton next to the Transformations Clinic off the Beltline.

Generations Fertility Care will be a 12,400-square-foot facility with private patient rooms, an extensive on-site laboratory and state-of-the-art care under one roof. It will be located at 2365 Deming Way.

"We are excited about the services in this new building," says Dan Lebovic, MD, MA, medical director of the clinic and associate professor of obstetrics and gynecology, reproductive endocrinology and infertility at the UW School of Medicine and Public Health. "It will offer a soothing, spa-like setting not found in a typical hospital and provide patients with the stellar quality expected from a university."

Generations Fertility Care will feature a number of unique services not offered anywhere else in the area:

  • Both male and female infertility evaluation on site
  • Sperm cryopreservation for men with cancer
  • A complimentary financial counselor
  • A garden that serves as a quiet place for contemplation

The clinic is expected to open in September 2010, and have 12 to 15 employees. The REI clinic currently operates on the sixth floor of UW Hospital and Clinics.

Construction will be jointly funded by UW Hospital and Clinics and the UW Medical Foundation.
