Starting September 18, there will be new operating hours for the Health Sciences Learning Center (HSLC).

Home to the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health and Ebling Library, the center is in the midst of a renovation and security upgrade. To that end, the building’s availability, as well as the hours of operation at Ebling Library, will change.

The new HSLC hours will be:

  • 6:30am to 7pm Monday to Thursday
  • 6:30am to 5:30pm Friday
  • Noon to 4pm Saturday and Sunday

During the Saturday and Sunday hours, users will be able to access the building only with a Wiscard, the University of Wisconsin identification card, or a UW Health identification badge.

Students of the School of Medicine and Public Health, School of Nursing or Pharmacy, as well as students from the occupational therapy and kinesiology programs, will have access to HSLC any time of day using a Wiscard or UW Health badge. Health Sciences Learning Center faculty and staff who need to enter the building outside of normal business hours will also be able to enter the building using a UW Health badge or Wiscard.

UW Health faculty and staff can continue to use the interior walking route, including weekends and holidays. After-hours faculty and staff will need to use their UW Health identification badge at certain locked doors.

Ebling Library’s hours are slightly different from the HSLC.

The library will be open from:

  • 7:30am to 7pm Monday to Thursday
  • 7:30am to 5pm Friday
  • Noon to 4pm Saturday and Sunday

Like the HSLC, access by students, staff and faculty outside of these times will be allowed using the UW Health badge or Wiscard.

“We are excited about offering increased security and expanded access for health sciences staff, students and faculty to better serve their needs,” said Mark Wells, assistant dean for facilities.
