Purpose/goal of the project
The purpose of this project is to provide gather information about carbon monoxide detection and awareness among Wisconsin residents using the SHOW sample.
The goal of the study will be:
- to determine whether carbon monoxide monitors exist in residences
- the type of monitor, if it is working properly, and how many are in the home
- participants’ awareness and knowledge of carbon monoxide monitors in the home
- participants’ awareness and knowledge of sources of carbon monoxide and carbon monoxide poisoning
Description of the study/SHOW involvement in the project
Trained SHOW staff are assisting with questionnaire development and protocols for training staff to identify and test carbon monoxide detectors in home. SHOW will assist with the implementation of a short series of questions about carbon monoxide monitoring into the main SHOW questionnaires, and will train staff to collect data on carbon monoxide monitors in the home.
