Training opportunities

The Molecular Tumor Board

The Molecular Tumor Board is a forum through which expert clinicians discuss tumor genotype to guide patient-specific treatment. The goal of this team is to analyze molecular abnormalities in an effort to predict response to targeted therapies.

The Molecular Tumor Board is intended to supplement oncology tumor boards and comprise a broad range of expert panel members. The Molecular Tumor Board includes multidisciplinary teams of clinicians, lab scientists, and translational scientists who are experts in a wide variety of cancer types.

Molecular Tumor Board process

It is recommended that the attending physician present the patient case, including history of the disease, prior treatments and tumor genotype. Discussion among the Molecular Tumor Board members results in a consensus opinion with the intention of guiding patient-specific targeted molecular therapy when appropriate.

Continuing education

Molecular Tumor Board is also a continuing education activity available for CME credit through the University of Wisconsin.

Access to Molecular Tumor Board is available through HealthLink for UW Health providers. Non-UW Health providers should use our online portal.
