Amy Schubert, PT, DPT

Amy Schubert is the director of admissions for the Doctor of Physical Therapy program. She is responsible for recruitment, counseling interested students and managing the overall admissions process. She also serves as advisor for the UW–Madison Pre-PT Club, an undergraduate student organization, as well as Advancing Diversity and Excellence in Physical Therapy (ADEPT), a DPT student organization.
Prior to joining the UW–Madison Doctor of Physical Therapy program in 2018, Schubert worked as a physical therapist for UW Health, primarily in sports rehabilitation, from 2007 to 2018. In clinic, she focused on treatment of athletes with lower-extremity injuries related to running, including video analysis of running mechanics. She developed post-operative guidelines following surgical release for the treatment of chronic exertional compartment syndrome, which were published in 2011. Schubert served as a guest instructor for the DPT program from 2005 to 2014, and owned and operated her own personal training business from 2013 to 2018. She co-instructed Principles of Professional Practice and Administration (PT 512), and was a clinician at University Health Services, from 2019-2023. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association Private Practice and Sports sections.
Schubert received her bachelor of science degree in kinesiology-exercise science from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 2004 and a master of physical therapy degree from UW–Madison in 2006. In 2010, she received a post-professional doctorate of physical therapy from the University of New England, which included management sciences as well as legislation and policy studies.
