Hope Broadus, JD, is the chief human resources officer. She leads the school’s Office of Human Resources, which provides support and expertise to current and potential faculty and staff to help them be successful in their work.

Her areas of expertise include employee relations, performance management, recruiting and selection, HR policy and program design, training and development, risk management, grievances and complaints, and ethics and conflicts of interest.

Prior to joining the School of Medicine and Public Health in 2019, Broadus served as director of human resources in the School of Humanities and Sciences at Stanford University in California and gained 17 years of senior-level experience in human resources management and employment law experience in public- and private-sector organizations. While at Stanford, she also served as director of human resources for the university’s Land, Buildings and Real Estate Division and held leadership positions in talent management and employee/labor relations.

Broadus also served as assistant counsel for employment and labor with the U.S. Department of Defense in the Defense Logistics Agency. Earlier in her career she served as senior HR analyst for the city and county of San Francisco Public Utilities Commission, focusing on employee relations and Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) laws, policies and regulations. She began her career at the law firm of Montgomery, Rennie and Jonson in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Broadus earned a juris doctor degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Law and a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Pennsylvania.
