Judy Dewane is an associate professor with joint appointments in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program and the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation Medicine. Dewane’s teaching responsibilities include Neuromuscular Mechanics and Control (PT 628), Orthotic Applications in Physical Therapy Practice (PT 675), and Motor Control Dysfunction Examination, Diagnosis and Management I (PT 635) and II (PT 636). She also serves as the faculty advisor for the DPT Student Pro Bono Clinic.

She is certified in vestibular rehabilitation and much of her clinical practice was in the area of vestibular rehabilitation, brain injury/concussion management, and neurologic rehabilitation.

Dewane is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association Academies of Neurology and Geriatrics. She has worked on the Center for Disease Control’s PT Falls Task Force and is currently on the development team for a balance and falls credential course through the Geriatric Academy of Physical Therapy.

Dewane’s research focuses on the effectiveness of inter-professional student advocates to promote change and reduce fall risk in community-dwelling older adults, how an inter-professional model in pro bono affects student attitudes for future collaboration, and the effectiveness of vestibular rehabilitation.

Dewane received her bachelor’s degree in physical therapy from Marquette University, her master’s degree in health science from the University of Indianapolis, and her doctorate in advanced neurology from Rocky Mountain University in Provo, Utah.
