Sweta Shrestha works with Master of Public Health (MPH) program faculty, staff, and students to center communities most impacted by inequities in the work that we do together. She brings a global health and health equity sensibility and energy to the program.

Shrestha is an alumna of the MPH program and earned her undergraduate degree at UW–Madison. Prior to joining the MPH program as the associate director, she was the Workforce Training Programs lead for the Mobilizing Action Towards Community Health (MATCH) Group at the Population Health Institute (PHI). There she managed the Population Health Service Fellowship Program and the COVID-19 Response Corps Program, and provided leadership and guidance on public health workforce training and development efforts. She continues to serve as a program faculty for the Population Health Service Fellowship and an advisor for the program.

Her previous experiences also include community-based family planning in Uganda and strengthening health care services in Nepal, Zambia, Ethiopia and South Africa. She has led global health field experiences in Nepal and Sri Lanka, where she was engaged with a range of Global Health Institute initiatives including the Quality Improvement Leadership Institute and the Human Rights Initiative within the Global Health Institute.
