Francois Recieves 2009 Editor's Recognition Award with Distinction
Christopher Francois, MD, radiology, received the 2009 Editor's Recognition Award with Distinction in recognition of his outstanding efforts as a reviewer for radiology. This recognition is given to the top 10 percent of journal reviewers.
Kanne Awarded JTI's Editor's Recognition Award
Jeffrey Kanne, MD, radiology, was awarded the Journal of Thoracic Imaging's 2009 Editor's Recognition Award for distinguished service as a reviewer for the journal. This award is given to a highly select group of JTI's reviewers in recognition of their consistently high quality, comprehensive, scholarly and timely reviews.
Remington Authors New Edition of Renowned Chronic Disease Book
Patrick Remington, MD, MPH, is an author of "Chronic Disease Epidemiology and Control, 3rd Edition," which is the American Public Health Association's book of the month.
Chronic diseases are the leading cause of death and disability in the United States. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, chronic diseases-including heart disease, stroke and diabetes-are responsible for seven out of 10 U.S. deaths each year.
"We have chapters on nutrition, obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease, and within each of these chapters we identify causes, consequences and groups at highest risk," says Remington.
