Supporting Diverse Faculty and Staff

Diversity is central to the mission of the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. We foster a culture of inclusion and respect among our patients, employees, learners and the communities we serve. Through teaching, discovery and advocacy, we promote equity in access to quality health care.

Students, faculty and staff are involved with many community engagement initiatives, building connections, sharing knowledge and improving health across our city, state and the world.

Within the school, the Office of Diversity and Equity Transformation (DET) breaks down silos, connects across the system and advances DEI efforts in the basic science departments, institutes, centers and programs.

More about our diversity mission

Centennial Scholars Program

The Centennial Scholars Program  develops faculty whose diversity enhances the quality of education and research and who may serve as visible and available role models for students and trainees, especially those from underrepresented minority groups.

Building Community

Building Community is at the heart of the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health’s vision of modeling its core values as we train the next generation of health care professionals and researchers.

The goal is to improve the learning and working environment at the School of Medicine and Public Health, one in which diversity and inclusion is valued in all aspects of our work. By innovating new solutions and enhancing our investment in current successes, we are creating a culture that rewards skillful behavior that exemplifies professionalism, respect, altruism and empathy as we work and learn together. We also are refining and clarifying expectations about accountability for inappropriate behavior.
