I have always liked New Year’s resolutions. There is something symbolic about turning over a new leaf along with the calendar. I have found the most success when I mindfully take stock and consider how I can continue to grow, both personally and professionally.
I see resolutions as a way to challenge ourselves, intentionally inviting in discomfort or a new experience with joy and open arms. By stretching ourselves, we grow and commit to continual learning through our careers and lives. We further anchor ourselves in our values, reorient toward our North Star and learn new ways of being. What could be more exciting?
Something I look forward to is hearing the hopes, dreams and plans for 2026 from those around me. I recently talked with my leadership team about our resolutions for how to grow in the new year. Some shared they hope to advance their own health and take time for self-care and professional development. Another is committed to revisiting their passion for fiction writing! We also talked about adopting new mindsets to meet our shared goals, such as thinking “we” not “me” and owning what we do best. I hope you find their resolutions as inspiring as I did.
By stretching ourselves, we grow and commit to continual learning through our careers and lives.
My own New Year’s resolution, both for myself and for our school community, is to think impact. This is how we inspire others, and together chart our future to become a beacon for health care transformation in Wisconsin and beyond, such as through our current Strategic Planning efforts.
And this can’t be done alone. I need your help and your insights. All members of the school community will be invited to join the All-School Discussion for Strategic Planning in February.
We have a full year ahead of us, filled with excitement for what is to come. While I’m no fortune teller, I can confidently share a few things 2026 will include:
- We will work together and innovate strategically
- We will encounter, and overcome, barriers — and also share some laughter
- And we will be Badgers!
